Checked out ep 1, very unique concept, but honestly 40 eps? The pacing for the first 2 eps are slow already, It's a pass for me but I'll be back to see reviews after it finishes
I started watching this in Viet dub and it's so freaking good, the characters are written so well. I absolutely love Ji Cheng and Yi Dong's characters and interactions. Usually, republican era dramas are too slow but I think the setup during the first 10 eps is really good and interesting. I also was surprised at how many funny moments there is
It's predictable and has all the cliche tropes, but I think the pacing was handled well, I loved both relationships so much but Wu Bai Qi and Fu Xuan's stole my heart completely
Honestly one of the most addictive shows in 2020, of course it wasn't perfect, I was frustrated with Fu Rong sometimes, but the cuteness was well worth it.
FINALLY a unique concept I'm sick of rom-coms stretched out to be 50 eps with so much b.s in between hope this is good, Youku usually takes a bit longer for subs we usually wait 1-3 months but better than nothing
They never sub CCTV or Hunan tv dramas, as much as I want to see this, I doubt there will be any subs unless some hardcore fans would upload fansubs, Republican dramas are not popular internationally which is why they never waste money on hiring subbers, and it's challenging for even native speakers to translate the terms right
There's an addictive pull to this drama that draws you in from the first episode the pacing is stellar, the story is so interesting, this is definitely a hidden gem among cdramas
I was surprised about all the serious and realistic topics that were covered in such a short drama, the writers really did a phenomenal job. They handled these topics really well and wrote so many complex characters. Often when a drama tries to tackle too many topics and genres at once it takes away so much from the main story, but this does not at all.
I don't think it will air because the male lead Zhang Zhe Han left the company and moved on to a new agency (I think there are some conflicts behind the scenes or something, and Yu Zheng studio produced and wrote this drama) but hopefully, they still release it
This drama is one of the slowest paced drama I've sat down to watch but because of the slow build up the revelations and big scenes are INCREDIBLE the payoff and acting is so worth it

The eng dub is terrible yet it's the only version that managed to get me past ep 5 lol I think I'll rewatch it with subs after I finish. For a great drama, it still suffers pacing issues, especially at the start

So far the rumors are this will go up around early winter 2021 Lunar New Year (Usually early Feb.) is likely since a lot of people stay home and watch dramas when they're off for the breaks it's a good way to get ratings up and make more money
Legit it was no news and then bam hit me harder than the KDRAMA TRUCK OF DOOM

And the cinematography is so stunning, it's great so far, let's pray it doesn't get draggy or have a sad ending
