Seriously you can't satisfy people. They moan if it's a sad ending and they moan if it's a happy ending
I think I remember the older lady at the hospital saying something like this in this series: Saying goodbye is always unpleasant (happy or otherwise).
I took me some time to realize this, but yeah, even the most beautiful, satisfying happiest of endings still leaves me with some feeling of loss.

After seeing Son Ye Jin in Something in the Rain, which left me wanting to see more of her, but in a lighter setting (already seen CLOY which made me see SITR which was really heartfelt for me) I decided to watch this.
I expected very little because of the mixed reviews, and in the beginning I thought: not 'that' bad, some cringe moments I didn't like, but mostly it was enjoyable.
But from episode 11 or so it became worse for me and I sometimes even got angry because of the way certain situations where handled/resolved which felt so forced/cheap/stupid, and just a shame as it wasn't all bad.
At least it got me over SITR and got to see some more of SYJ so that the mere sight of her face doesn't make me tear up anymore.

Yeah, I was pretty disappointed by this series, I had such high hopes, and in the first few episodes seemed it could still become great.

Unfortunately I have to agree with a lot of your review.

Maybe one more positive I don't think you really mentioned, as I had a childhood friend who had an older brother that was mentally challenged. The issue of the 'normal' brother that needs to always give priority to the wishes of the challenged brother can be really really frustrating. And I think this series illustrated this issue pretty well, and how hard it can be for the parent(s) to notice this and try and keep a good balance.

In the beginning I thought I would recommend this series to him because it really hit home for me, but now after finishing it, I just can't anymore..

I was hoping they would have concentrated on these very real issues ppl with mental health problems and the ppl around them face, as they partly did, and I think did pretty well. imo it could have been such a great series if they did, but I guess they saw it differently.. such a shame.

As sidenote, I just finished this series today, and now I'm completely in love with Seo Ye Ji, her presence kept me from dropping this show during its second half, I just couldn't get enough of her, oh my, I know it's so stupid, but yeah.. that human condition :D

Person Seo Yea Ji
This lady right here has not learnt acting prior to her career so I can tell you she truly is a gem that is waiting…
Just finished IOTNBO, she was perfect for that role, I was mesmerized by her charisma/presence the whole way through, she and the older brother really lifted that series up a few notches imo.

Although I might not disagree with your other points because it is your own opinion, but you say Oh Jung Se's…
I agree that the casting/performances were good to extremely good, but it could have been so much better if they didn't force the over the top arcs in there, imo that was not necessary and detracted from the overall power of the pretty good writing about the real struggles ppl with these issues deal with.
One of my best friends has a mentally challenged brother and I've seen his frustration because he was always expected (by parents and environment) to put his own desires second as his brother wasn't able to. Imo the first half or so illustrated this perfectly (among others) and was really heartfelt for me, such a shame they seemed it feel that was not enough..

Title Mr. Sunshine
Why do I keep watching shows like these.. this time I thought I would be fine as for like 18 episodes I was enjoying it but not super invested in the characters for some reason, but then they really grew on me and in the end they got me.. they got me so bad.
