i didn't understand the ending but yes thee is a lot romance
the ending was that he couldn't choose anyone of those lovely women or choose to abandon his kids for the mistress, so he chose the way out where he couldn't be with anyone. That was the point of the ending, he couldn't abandon his kids, but he loved the mistress too much, so he removed himself because he was making everyone miserable.
