A good start with a bad ending idea, the screenwriter had no idea for a good ending

I got interested in this drama while looking for a contemporary drama with historical or fantasy threads and found this movie. Generally, I don't watch dramas with contemporary plots much, because I like these historical, costume dramas more, but I wanted a distraction, because I already had too many of these palace intrigues, jealous stepsisters or brothers or vengeful emperors and empresses ... but unfortunately, there are also threads here revenge in the clan dominated the relationships and pursuit of power of some characters. Apparently, the authors of the script follow the simplest scheme, because it does not cost much work on the script ....
The idea was good, although a bit of a fantasy genre. A clan of foxes from a distant planet comes to earth and evolves over the centuries and resembles a human while retaining its abilities and longevity. They watch over the purity of the blood so that there is no mixing with people, as this causes defects in the children being born. And just such a hybrid of a man and a fox is the main character of ML - Helan Jing Ting. The mother was a princess from the Clan of Letters, and the father was an ordinary man. The child is born with a defect and is blind from birth. The only thing that can restore his sight is to drink soup from the liver of someone who loves him. And here begins their whole history in the present with reference to the distant past. Where main ML's girlfriend is married and ML eventually falls in love with each other, but they don't know that main ML's father wanted to sacrifice FL from the beginning so that his son could regain his sight. As a result, FL loses his life, and ML finds out after the fact that his wife was sacrificed to save his sight. He breaks off contact with his own father and for 900 years tries to find a way so that FL, reincarnated in the following centuries, could finally live her whole life.

Anyway, the first episodes seemed interesting and I hoped that it would stay that way when it comes to the plot, pace, etc. Unfortunately, about halfway through, the plot starts to fall apart and holes are made, as if the scriptwriter suddenly lost his inspiration. And finally, the last 2 episodes are a failure in my opinion, I join the opinion of other reviewers that the 24th episode was not needed at all, in the meantime, the threads with ex-boyfriend and friend Guan Pi Pi only took time for the main leads. And the last episode completely lost its energy and had many understatements and gaps.
As for the main leads of Guan Pi Pi and Helan Jing Ting, I don't know them from other dramas. It was my first time watching them, so it will be pure opinion only from the role they played in this movie. Both played very statically, they had little chemistry... at the beginning FL was just getting to know ML and that's understandable, but as she developed a feeling for him, emotions and facial expressions did not change unfortunately. ML also played the same body language and facial expressions all the time, looked at FM like "body" with these eyes and generally the only scene that brought emotions was the one where they first consummated their relationship. I don't know if they played better in other dramas, but here it was as if they were novice actors. You could really build a nice relationship and show it on the screen, but unfortunately either that was the script or the actors had such limited skills, which is a shame. I was disappointed by the ending, when they had a chance to live their lives together, then again the author of the script invented a tragedy for them and separated them senselessly. I had questions why when ML turned into a fox, FL couldn't go along with Xiu Xian and Zhao Kuan Yong to take care of him during his transition to human form. Why had she stayed at home and waited there for six months? I don't understand why in the last scene, seeing him again from the window of the train at the railway station, she didn't run to him, she just went over to the agenda, as if she hadn't been looking for him and waiting for him?! This scene makes absolutely no sense. If she loved him so much and was waiting for his return, she didn't react with joy when she saw him, didn't she run to him? She went to the bar on the train to get something to drink... and that last scene when he comes over and he doesn't remember her at all, however he knows his name and he knows the origin and meaning of his last name... at the end ML states that he will wait with her for her friend ....what does it mean??/ Did he recognize her and was just teasing her, or did he just catch his eye at first sight, not recognizing her? I didn't understand this scene at all. They should have had a good ending after all these experiences that they asked for.

Now the supporting characters. Very cool two characters friends of the main ML Zhao Kuan Yong and Xiu Xian who were funny and fell in love with the same girl Xin Xiao Ju [Pi Pi's best friend]. They had a nice relationship, but it was known that it would not be possible to end it positively, because the triangle was out of the question, and Xin Xiao couldn't decide which one to choose, so the script writer came up with a solution that finally both men returned to their original fox form after devoting his energy to saving ML. I really miss those three...
Another character is Tushan Qian Hua, arranged for marriage with ML 900 years earlier, who was unhappily in love with ML and followed him for centuries hoping that one day he would love her. Ultimately, however, she finally gave up and fell in love with Zhao Song [Left High Priest] the adoptive brother of the main ML who was the villain in this movie and ended up badly in the movie's finale through his choices. I felt sorry for Tushan because she sacrificed her life for Zhao Song as well. The other characters like FL's ex-fiancé and her friend Tian Xin had too many scenes at the expense of the main couple in my opinion, but that's my personal opinion about their characters. Generally, this was the closest group of major leads. The rest were side plots in the drama.
To sum up, I could give this drama a lot more points, but because of these holes and understatements and dragging out unnecessary plot threads and not very warm main scenes, once they realized their feelings for each other and the last scenes of the ending written "on the knee" by the scriptwriter, I gave lower marks unfortunately ...
You can have a small budget for a movie, but if you have a good writer and director, you can make a nice drama.

A misleading title that has no justification in the drama

The title of the drama had nothing to do with the fight for love, looking at the main leads who, in my opinion, sorry, had no chemistry or development in their love...
The promising first episode made me start watching this drama, but as the episodes passed I had the impression that FL's pretense of being a man and excessively changing himself into masculine poses did not bode well for this character... she wanted to be forcefully masculine... she was supposedly looking for the culprits of her parents, but Cora was more immersed in, as usual, too exalted heroism to defend the country and people... Of course, she forgot herself to such an extent that she forgot about her femininity... the FL and ML romance began to smolder and there was some it was funny, but it quickly faded away and there was actually no chemistry between them and that discouraged me because already in episode 24 I saw that it was only going to FL's friendly treatment of ML, not their love and... this FL character started to piss me off and irritate me, because I can't stand long episodes where a woman (a woman) strives to be a strong man and a hero of the nation, these themes are already tired of me in these dramas, especially since it was obvious that bread won't be made from flour, as the proverb says... that's why I saw the last episode and the shitty ending, so I decided to quit this drama, because it's a waste of my time for such an irritating lack of character and plot development... I don't recommend it...

nice drama to watch

This is my first modern Korean drama and I'm impressed because I didn't expect to like it...
The story is not new, but quite nicely written, although there were moments in the plot when I didn't know what it was about... in general, it's a pity that the drama is not available on YouTube with automatic translation into various languages, because I was struggling with the English one and maybe that's why some of the threads were unclear to me...
It's a kind of romance with funny, but also dramatic twists.... love turned into a deep feeling by accident, but it was interrupted by a 3-year separation... I didn't understand it at all... ok, Lee Gun's illness was mentioned, but he she was behaving strangely... because when he finally started to develop feelings for Kim Mi Young and first adored her, and then suddenly broke up in such a hopeless way that he contributed to a car accident and the loss of a child... then the action moves 3 years ago forward and they meet again... she is already a famous cartoonist, and he continues his work and is the president of a large company... when he finds out that she is back, he chases after her again and does everything to get her attention, and again he does something so senseless that he suddenly hurts her so painfully and disgusts her... I don't understand it at all... if he knew that he couldn't be with her due to her illness, why does he encourage her and incite mutual feelings... very strange... however, the ending is happy, which I'm glad about, because I don't like tragic endings, especially when the main leads go through so many difficulties and traumatic experiences.

I really liked the main actors, there was a nice chemistry between them - great.... one of the writers accused that the bangs didn't suit ML, but I personally liked it because it fit Lee Gun's character and behavior at the beginning of the episodes and this laughter was also ok at the beginning, but then when they got back together, he actually used this laughter too much, although it was explained at the end why - because of his father, who gave him a message to smile often in life even in difficult situations moments...
Nice role played by Jan Na Ra... she was able to show emotions nicely... I also loved Lee Gun's grandmother, who had a distance to all matters.
OST - it was quite nice, especially the song Good Bye My Love

I recommend

Pleasant, light romance

I just finished watching all the episodes and I'm glad I reached for this drama. First of all, because of this pair of actors that I recently watched in a drama in which both actors Zeng Shun Xi and Liang Jie played. I've been watching especially for Joseph Zeng, whose acting I really like, I've really enjoyed most of his dramas so far. There's something inherent in him, a magnetic charisma that attracts viewers, and his gaze with those warm, beautiful eyes.
It's a light drama with a simple, romantic plot without any tragic events that did me good after all the previous dramatic plots in other dramas.
I enjoyed watching the romance develop between the two main leads as well as the supporting characters. Healthy relations between these two and between the parents of these two leads, where finally there was no sick ambition to marry a rich heir to a rich girl. ZXQ's main lead's parents were normal, his mother is his son's confidante and talked to him normally and accepted his choice of girlfriend without any problems. Which was a big change in this drama compared to the plots of other dramas. There are also no annoying ex-girlfriends or ex-boyfriends, no toxic relationships. There is, however, a pair of very engaging best friends who later become our beloved side couple. The best friends here, Yao Jiajia (Li Linfei) and Lin Kaiwen (Zhou Zihan), are intelligent and give our couple tips and sound advice, helping them see and find themselves. Which is a rare occurrence in drama plots.

It's a story with a very simple plot and no twists and turns. The dialogues are subtly funny, humorous. Drama is soothing and lighthearted, perfect for erasing stress and anxiety.
However, I blame the author of the script for treating the last scenes so lightly... they were not as engaging as the earlier ones and I had the impression that they were written hastily "on the knee". Especially the scene where the main leads have a conclusion in the scene of consummating their relationship and it was horribly shown! This scene should be especially well prepared. I don't know if the script was written by a young man who treats the first intercourse between two people in love as something ordinary, as if it was of little importance in their lives, and on top of that there is this stupid discussion about securing a condom (by the way, the placement of this product was in an earlier episode of shopping scene for LZX going on a business trip, which surprised me that the censors let it pass). It was not knowing why the most important thing for these two at that moment, not their beautiful relationship, tenderness, closeness. It could have been done so romantic and it begged that the next scene the next day also retained the emotion of waking up together and looking at each other with tenderness. And here they show Ye Shi Lan, who wakes up alone and Lu Zhao Xi is not by her side, because he ran to get some stupid thermos box that he brought to the room in the morning .... and he did not greet her with a kiss or a word after spending the night together... IT WAS LEG! Apparently, also the Chinese youth is currently treating this important event as the youth in the world, i.e. thoughtlessly and without emotions ... they just slept with each other ... I prefer this couple in a similar scene in the drama Time Flies and You are Here, where both understand the importance of this their "first time". So much for my disappointment with the last scene. That's why I didn't give a full 10 for the plot.
Despite this unfortunate written last scene, I highly recommend this drama, especially to lovers of romance and all viewers with tender hearts.

Absolutely disappointing ending and cruel writers of the script

I couldn't bear to watch Yuchi Longyan have to live all these "lives" of the main character Liu Ying for so many years, it was too painful... ...and the beginning was so sweet for the two main characters.... when Dragon YL didn't know earthly life and was just getting to know.... I watched 10 episodes and the last episode, the rest of the episodes I read the synopsis...
I agree with @Onelovestorie's comment below...."The stupid 'lifetimes' were so stupidly executed and the reasoning behind the whole charade was so ridiculous!" I have the impression that the writers of the script either have some psychopathic inclinations and enjoy making the heroes of their stories suffer, or they write under the influence of some kind of alcohol intoxication .... because I do not believe that you can invent such mental and physical torture for the characters sober. I think that 1 "lifetimes" would be enough, it's still too much to look at a loved one from the side, extending it to 4 "lifetimes" didn't make sense .... and also this idiotic ending, fatal for me and not giving the main characters a chance for a normal life after all these sufferings.... because where did they finally land in the realm of the spirit? So, in fact, they live somewhere out there without being material ... well, really, congratulations to the screenwriters for such a final sloppy thing that YL and LY funded ... After such scenarios, I don't want to watch the next fantasy dramas...
