Based on what I know, the ratings are calculated on limited sample size and I think it's not correct but it seems…
They are quit accurate...there are 2 companies responsible for ratings and both bring smiler numbers...and the samples sizes are definitely not small...they're more than enough...specially AGB Nielsen.
Yeah, we could really wonder what's wrong with Korean people ... given some of the shows that top the ratings…
The thing is...most of the times they watch dramas when family is around...so only family dramas/sageuks get those crazy high ratings...also watching on TV isn't like streaming online...
Imagine yourself setting on the coach...changing channels on TV...and then you watch a makjang/family drama airing...most of your reactions will be (oh I can't believe they're using this old trick...are they really going in that direction...this 2nd lead is a bitch...the idiot female lead can't be fooled by this...etc) even if you don't like it...you'll stop and check it at least to laugh at the writers...but they don't care even if you find it stupid & laughable as long as the ratings are high...
Cos ratings = ads = money!

wth is wrong with Korean people?? Night watchman 10% and the three musketeers only 1%? I don't get it...
As Skye explained Night Watchman airs on free TV so it's natural to get these ratings...but still 1% ratings for such high production drama like The 3 Musketeers is still considered low for cable TV specially that they are planning to have it running for 3 seasons!
What I don't understand is why no legal streaming website decided to stream Bad Guys. It looks really interesting…
OCN dramas usually have hard time getting subbed cos they contain no romance & so don't bring in fans...the ratings doesn't matter...if the fans don't ask persistently for it!
It's a nice Rom/Com...but the main lead is a despicable leech (at least for now) while the 2nd lead is an irresponsible…
He's stupid...he doesn't know how to show emotions...he throws the ring to her...he gets her to meet his parents without telling her what kind of @#$% they are...when she was taken to hospital...instead of showing worry he's like...are you being punished! she's to tired to keep looking for hiding meanings in his actions & words...he's the type who makes his partner pull her hair off from frustration!
