I think he lived...his younger self decided not to go to the past so just like when he died due to tumor before...he'll live this time...and because the accident time passed & the sticks take him back to the same time 20 years ago he won't use them...but 20 years later he decides to go back to save his brother...I think the old guy at the end is the older Sun Woo..not his younger self!
