it's fair to say you prefer it if it's extra, at the end of the day everyone has their own preferences. but tbh if you don't end up liking this one you can always go back and reread the manga or rewatch the jdrama. let's just wait for it to air first, judging from a 2min 30sec trailer could lead to wrong impressions.

i can assure you it has the same plot it's 100% confirmed

they didn't change the storyline, they just didnt choose parts of the scenes that make the storyline obvious for the trailer.. plus this version is adapting all volumes of the manga with some changes to fit the setting being in Thailand so there will def be scenes you haven't seen in the jdrama.. keep in mind not all adaptions are the same, i'm sure geminifourth will do just fine

well the jdrama didnt adapt all the volumes but this version did so maybe that's one of the reasons
