currently on episode 38 and IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL what the heck, I had to stop to write this...

I'll write my own positive review as soon as I finish the episodes today, as I genuinely love this drama. I think we'll see more positive reviews from real (legal) viewers soon :)

I need to wait 7 more hours before I can watch the last episodes but I'm so ready to write a long review. this has been great, I have so much to say about this drama

the episodes feel super short honestly. I love both of the dramas you mentioned and I am absolutely LOVING Pursuit of Jade so I'd say give it a try :)

I also enjoy that! I know there were many real dumb/coward puppet kings and emperors that existed irl but we rarely see a true joke of an emperor in dramas lol

I work until ~9h after the episodes are released (with quite a lot of free time but not so much to watch an entire episode during work) so scrolling through your comments and reading spoilers here and there actually hypes me up for the new episodes and help me get through the work day. thx guys 🙏

I just know Qianqian had to help Changyu get into that badass outfit in a timely manner. I hate getting dressed in the car, can't imagine putting on armor. that in itself is badass lol

emotional slowmo scenes always mean death!!! I was just waiting for it. poor boy :(

I also don't think Changyu's feat from ep 26 is out of line with her character, as they've been showing her being a very capable fighter since ep 1. it is well stablished enough that it's quite believable for me, idk. also it seemed to me like she won the fight not only with strenght but also by being petite and agile. a bit of element of surprise for the enemy, when you underestimate your target you are more likely to fail.

I tend to enjoy things for what they are and not for what I believe they should have been, so I'm chill with the lack of XZs heroics that made him that "feared marquis" being shown. also chill with the very small amount of scenes where he's actually doing something for his own purpose and not only for Changyu (I usually don't care much for MLs in dramas though so I understand opposite opinions lol). vast majority of the scenes are very well constructed and quite beautiful to look at, so I think I'd be watching even if the story made absolutely no sense lol. also I LOVE CHANGYU!!!

ep 27 felt so short. I saw someone saying that they should have made the lin'an arc shorter since there are only 40 episodes, but XZs words from today's episode made it very clear why dedicating so much time to that part was necessary. his words would have seem shallow if we didn't become so used to his calm Yan Zheng moments. I do believe everything else could be better developed if we had more episodes, but I'll wait until the end to comment more on that.

I LOVED Changyu in EP 26 (actually love her in all the episodes but not relevant lol)!! love seeing petite ladies doing badass things, that's one of my favorite genres fr. thank you Tian Xiwei 🙏

I watched the first 9 episodes all in one day right as they came out and I was surviving with 2 episodes/day since then but 1 is torture 😔. the only good part is that we get a lot of time to talk about this drama while waiting for the next episode, and it will take more time for it to end (I'll be sad when that happens) lol
