Imo, all the characters have flaws which all have inevitable consequences
For me, Shinwoo is really relatable as well as Daon but for different reasons.
Shin seems to be unconsciously carrying his experiences with middle school with him to the point that it kind of dictates his actions. He uses his cold persona to push people away, as he knows if he's hurtful, people won't bother (like when he told tae that hes an eyesore and that hes acting like they're friends). He's been bullied and the bullies know his secret-likely sexuality). And shin even said they used to be his friends. He may be afraid that confessing to Tae and acting normalwith him may lead to friction within the friend group and he may want to push tae away to avoid complicating his feelings for tae and protect tae from rumours. However, we can see that he is realising how his behaviour will not be tolerated by tae and he's beginning to act normally with tae, even smiling fondly at him towards the end, and tying his shoelaces in the preview, suggesting he is reflecting and may be willing to act based on his heart and realise how his behaviour to push people away by being rude is wrong. I personally think that he used his behaviour as a way to deliberately push people away, rather than him meaning that (like calling tae an eyesore, when starung at him so fondly and panicking when with him). But sometimes his rude behaviour is hostile (he wants to push people away, but he needs to realize his actions can be hurtful even if he just wants that to be a way for people to avoid him)
Similarly, Daon is a character who though is kind and caring, is too nice showing us how the lack of love from his parents means he's trying to gain it from those around him (which is sad because he's such an amazing person). He wants to strictly maintain his image of the really nice mr president which is dangerous because his too nice act can mean some actions are insincere and not right. Like chatting with that girl, who condemns him for giving her false hope when he didn't even like her. Even though he treats Tae nicely, he seems to be implying that his way with tae is special (wehen he mtnioned in one ep he was the only one telling tae this as well as taking time out for tae). But at the end of ep 6, he emphasised that him and tae are friends. But this contradicts how he's behaving so I feel that Tae will be heartbroken. In the preview, he was with sohee smiling and that seems bad because sohee is already clingy may misunderstand, thinking he likes her, but she asks in the preview if he likes tae. He looks guilty and upset. Tae's honesty is intriguing him. Just like how Shin is becoming more courageous and thoughtful, I hope Daon begins to say 'no' more and starts loving himself

I am a shin and tae shipper because I love their tension and chemistry and feel that Tae's direct behaviour with shin and how nice tae is (like when shin said punch me how much you want but tae just flicked his forehead) will profoundly impact shin and make shin want to be with tae and hell have more courage and share with tae about his middle school experiences, making tae understand why he acted like that, but explain how his behaviour is hurtful.
For Daon and tae, i want them to be good friends, with daon looking out for tae and tae being honest and boosting daon's self esteem as well as reminding daon that he is good enough and needs to love himself
For me, shin and daon's questionable actions have been equally wrong in terms of impact. Shin's sometimes rudeness is hurtful and Daon's unintentional actions which give people false hope and is setting some for heartbreak like sohee and daon possibly)

Ikr! He's so damn perceptive, watching shrewdly at the other character's (when shin knocked over tae, hes like lemme get them to work together). He's so damn cute for doing that and other ways like u entioned with the i lovve you game to get them closer together.
Get yourself a friend who isn't just hilarious and perceptive but also nice enough to purposefully do things like that

You've made some very solid points, this show is a breath of fresh air and addicting as some kdramas are getting boring (when you've watched all the good ones)
For me, the most gorgeous one is shinwoo. He's on the handsome side rather thasn pretty for me which i prefer. Him and namgoong are extremeley gorgeous, daon and taekyung are more pretty, they're all good-looking but i prefer shinwoo and namgoong more.
I love how you pointed out how it's well produced and that there's no sexual awakening. Compared to other shows where deep actions are used to convey things, here small heart fluttering moments have profound impacts, like it's more impactful than more intimtae scenes imo

That's exactly my thoughts! I've become sick of some kdramas (started off with rom-coms) but now prefer solid ones that are actually meaningful. E.g-imitation. But then i came across this and now ive been introduced to the world of bl, realising how refreshing and amazing they are.

I agree, i like DaOn, hes always advising tae on how to respond to shinwoo and is caring to those around him. However, he is overly nice and sometimes hypocritical like when telling Tae that alotof ppl cant be honest,but then lying to sohee and leaving her waiting instead of outright telling her to go away. The fact that he gave that girl hope thinking he liked her-i felt bad. I have a strong feeling Tae will fall for him (he already has)but Daon wont reciprocate cos hell see it as being friendly. But for tae daons overly nice behaviour made him seem special like when daon said stuff like im only telling u this.

I have to agree, I love Daon, but his extra nice persona is putting me off. I understand how hes neglcted by parents, and so is compensating by seeking validation from others. BUT his actions can be misleading, like he's nice to everyone and so everyone thinks they're some special person. Like he can act nice, but overly nice is too much, like he had the girls number, if she msged him he couldve politely told her he didnt like her instead of her having false hope. Like tae having feeelings for daon-no surprise as daon treats him in such a way that it seems that hes into tae. That girl who condemned him for making her think he had feelings is also another example-i loved how she condemned him because itll give him a chance to reflect and realise that his actions may not be how he intends them to. (Reminds me of wrightlifting fairy, main leads bro who was extra nice, female lead mistook it for love even tho the guy was just acting friendly??) I like how tae is honest and direct-it interest daon and i hope daon sees this. I also have a dangerous feeling that daon wont reciprocate taes feelings (like the last bit where daon referred to him as a 'friend' and the impact itll have on tae

Am loving the adorable moments of shinwoo, hes becoming more courageous and that smile at teae, hes utterly and unbelievably whipped for tae. But i agree sometimes hes hostile even though thats his way of saying get away from me to avoid complicating his feelingsfor tae. Who's gonna tell him that tae aint gonna do that, i think thats part of the charm of tae, which also intrigues shin, taes direct and confronts when necessary. But hes clueless at shin's feelings
Meanwhile my boy siwoon noticing it all and purposefully making them work together. Siwoon is best boi, i love how hes helping clueless tae getting a chance to spend time with shin which is helping their relationship grow

When tae told shin to close his eyes after shin told him to hit him until hes not mad, did anyone notice how shin's eyes widened. I think that shin thought tae was trying to kiss him or something and he was panicking.

The ost is also top-notch (everything about this drama is so well thought out). I feel like the ost perfectly conveys tae and shin's relationship, like the lyrics: like shin watching over tae despite distancing himself forcefully, 'im a little afraid'-i think shins been bullied in middle school, thats always unconsciously affecting him, explaining why he prefers distancing himself from tae to avoid getting entangled with him which could create issues.

Exactly, normally Male leads have a certain quality, but that's it. But here tae is amazingly complex, his ability to be direct and confront when necessary is amazing to see and is so refreshing. I feel thats what also adds to why shinwoo is attracted to him, rather than people being used to shinwoo being how he is, tae is like no, im not letting him slide and this further complicates shin's feelings for tae, like the collar grab scene where shin was just panicking, that gulp and the tension. Love the tension so much😳👌

can shinwoo get any more attractive? Yes he can-that smile was everything. Same, the next ep will feature more cute scenes like in the preview showcasing him tying tae's shoelaces. It's torture having to wait for the next eps, going to fill my time by rewatching all eps, edits and reading comments! Lets hope thursday comes quickly!

Daon doesn't seem to realise that how nice he is is acc going to have consequences, as we saw with the girl condemining him and how Taekyung likes him because of how he feels Daon pays special attention to him. But Taekyung's honesty interests Daon. But I feel Daon will not like Taekyung back because he seems like a kind friend who is looking out for everyone (even if it drains him). But Taekyung mistakes it for love (we see stealing glances, Taekyung noticing things like Daon wiping off cake from his mouth etc. I really like Daon but it's sad seeing how he has to have a smile plastered on 24/7. His dark side was prominent when he told Tae to forget the encounter between him and the girl, who rightfully condemned him for giving her false hope (Daon chatting with her without liking her and implying he liked her) I felt like Daon wants Taekyung to forget so Tae always remembers him as the good guy. For some reason, in ep 5, when shinwoo dropped the food, and he kinda looked round, i felt that was purposeful?? Daon's other side is unfolding, and even though it's bad that hes too nice to the point where people misunderstand, it's a chance for him to realise that. I hope if he rejects Tae, he gets a chance to learn about his actions. It reminds me of weightlifting fairy, main leads bro who was similarly very nice and that was misunderstood for love. Other than that, I loved how at the end, he was with shinwoo and tae, he was such a kind friend being with them both and allowing them to get closer together/giving tae advice by telling him shin will be thinking about apologizing, hes so thoughtful. I also hope he gets a chance at understanding himself and realising his self-worth. He comes across as rlly insecure, i feel so bad cos hes kind, handsome and good at a plethora of things. I hope he grows to become more confident and reassured in himself. Tae seems to show him that by telling him how he's good at art, I like how they both bring out the best in each other, even though im a shintae shipper, tae and daon are cute, but i dont feel the same chemistry as with shin and im living for the tension between shin and tae

Shinwoo, aaaaaaaaaaah. My heart. I loved how despite how shy he is, he mustered up the courage to apologize to tae and also do small actions that though were small, had a profound impact. That ep when tae got punched by the bully and had that scar, did anyone notice that shin had the plasters in his pocket since the first moment of ep and it was clear he wanted to plaster tae's wound. He kept looking at his pocket and tae noticed too, but he missed his chance. (someone pointed it out perceptively on insta). I liked their moments so much, the forehead flick and shin feeling so flustered . That moment when in the shop. tae said i love you, shin was comprehending and felt so flustered, he looked so adorableeeeee!!!. And that adorbz smile at tae full of love, hes whipped af. More shintae moments plz,, they are to die for. Shin is so damn handsome and his growth is getting to me, hes becoming more courageous and thoughtful.

Siwoon, he is on fire. Him noticing the tension between tae and shin when shin knocks tae over and purposefully sending them together to work. He is best boi, sitting there whilst watching the drama unfold
