At first, I thought there might be more to the husband's affair than it just being a one-time mistake. But reading the director and the actor playing Suho repeatedly emphasize in this press conference that Suho is sincere in his love for his family makes me think that it's not quite the case. But why introduce the cheating plot at all then? It must be relevant to the progression of the main plot somehow. A ploy to bring the FL and ML closer? Or maybe it has something to do with Geonwoo's accident.
Didn't she ask for a divorce when she went to prison. 7 - 10 years in prison he's going to move on. Said neighbour…
i don't think the husband has any ulterior motives. the director and the actor playing suho repeatedly emphasized in this press conference that he is sincere in his love for his family
Do you consider Suho's affair to be cheating? Honestly I have mixed feelings because on one hand, I agree with Soohyun's mom; he should've known better. He should've held back. His wife obviously was in a bad headspace when she told him to get out of her life. Her words came from a place of guilt and not indifference. She felt too ashamed to face him.
But on the other hand, can we really blame him? He needed support in that moment too. And his wife was the only one who shared his pain of losing a child at that time. Couple that with Soohyun's firm affirmations that Suho doesn't need her in his life and should start over, meet someone new ---and you essentially have a recipe for disaster.
If it was truly a one-time incident, then I guess I can empathize with Suho. However, if it had been happening before the incident...well, that changes things for sure.
I still feel bad for Soohyun. She doesn't deserve this on top of what she already had to suffer. And her comment about human feelings being complex was on point.
I'm curious what others' opinions on this topic are.
I think the neighbour is a red herring; Suho definitely cheated with Yuri on Soohyun. The way she said 'all the decent men are taken' while looking at Soohyun and then her body language while Soohyun told her about Suho's affair just screamed guilty to me. I'm more inclined to think the neighbour knows more about Suho than she should and that she's benefitting from it somehow. Maybe she's involved with the Congressman? Or maybe she witnessed Yuri leaving the house in a rush on the day of the incident when Soohyun came back home unexpectedly from the airport.
I think the neighbour's admiration for Soohyun in the scene where she invited her for tea was genuine. It would make sense that she would try to help her. On the contrary, Yuri's behaviour and he reaction to the news about Suho's affair just does not sit right with me.
I know everyone has their own tastes but I'd actually say the webtoon is a masterpiece. It'd be a shame to miss…
Well, we clearly are not on the same page about webtoons. I don't think graphic novels utilizing visual storytelling makes their plots and characters shallow and artificial. I probably can't change your mind about graphic novels or webtoons -- and that's okay. Everyone has their own preferences. But that unfortunately means this conversation is going nowhere.
I know everyone has their own tastes but I'd actually say the webtoon is a masterpiece. It'd be a shame to miss…
'Producers fear upsetting loyal webtoon followers' tbh it doesn't really feel that way given how many butchered webtoon-to-kdrama adaptations there are. And I do agree that directors should be free to take liberties while adapting the source material BUT if you're going to make changes that alter the very essence of the original storyline and include tropes just to appeal to the wider k-drama audience then at that point, you should simply make up a new story instead of adapting an existing one.
Also, I'd say wanting faithful adaptations is not limited to webtoon fans. I've seen countless fans upset that the live action adaptation couldn't do justice to their favourite books, etc.
Anyway, in my opinion, other fans' apprehension about an adaptations shouldn't affect your enjoyment of the show (esp if you're not a fan of the original webtoon in the first place) but then again, everyone interacts differently with media. To each his own.
There are many other unofficial ships... doesn't mean they are canon. ORV is better off without any romance. The ambiguity in the relationships between all the main characters is what makes it special.
Also, it's really frustrating watching YJH x KDJ shippers act like their ship is superior and more probable as compared to the others.
I guess a setting without mobile phones takes away the device that can ruin most plots a writer can imagine. But…

But of course, that is, if they adapt the webtoon faithfully in the first place
Despite webtoon-to-kdrama adaptations' history of being shit and all the miscastings, I'm still pretty excited about this. At best, it'll be satisfactory and stick to the original plot. At worst, it'll be a hot dumpster fire. I'm just here to enjoy the ride
Just don't add romance please. What's beautiful about ORV is that it shows different forms of love through its characters and their interactions. Incorporating romance into this would just steal away the spotlight from other themes of friendship, bromance and companionship.
No one is forcing y'all to like or watch the show. The casts are great! Lee Min Ho is a phenomenal actor! Take…
I never got the 'no one's forcing you to like this' argument. Not all reception absolutely needs to be positive. Fans of the original works are allowed to express their disappointment with the cast because some of the actors really don't fit their characters.
I watched The Smile Has Left Your Eyes a few days ago and that's what inspired me to watch Death's Game (Seo In-guk…
Their death was quite poetic really. I don't think there was any other way for them to wrap it up with a happy ending after the direction the show had taken - so, a reasonable albeit tragic end. BUT yesss I NEED them in another drama together
I think I must be the only one but I felt kind of bad for Lee Jin Sang, I know he did mess up things but somewhere…
Ah I felt the same way. One part of my brain was screaming with vengeance, "Yeah, that scumbag deserves it!" But the other half couldn't help but feel sorry for him. Either way, I hope Jin-sang ends up learning his lesson and rectifying himself.
