Very good article! I've watched the work of Liu Haoran, Arthur Chen, Wang Yi Bo, Dylan Wang & Song Wei Long.
My favourite actor from the one's you've mentioned is Liu Haoran. I absolutely loved his work in With You. Wang Yi Bo is also a good actor despite not coming close to Liu Haoran but this is now, the future we don't know. Arthur Chen is developing and growing his craft. Dylan Wang was amazing in MG but his other work is mehh for me at least. I think he ought to stick to contemporary dramas for a while. Dramas that have an extensive and expensive wardrobe as MG with a similar character which seems to suit Dylan quite well until he grows his craft. Song Wei Long... I'm not yet convinced either way despite having watched 2 dramas of his which is not necessarily a bad or a good thing. I guess he's still a bit bland as an actor for me but he will develop, hopefully.
I'm most excited abou the Thai Drama - Who Are You that has started airing last weekend and is based on the Korean drama - Who Are you? School 2015. 4 episodes in and it has been amazing! Thai remakes of Korean/Japanese/Taiwanese originals really raise the bar every time! This one is no exception.
Great article, very thourough! I've read about the historical accuracy of SOYP, the Qianlong Emperor, Empress Xiaoxianchun (Empress Fucha), Empress Xiaoxianchun (Noble Consort Ling) & Hoifa-Nara aka the Step Empress and I agree with you that he loved Empress Fucha a lot but enough to 'remain heartbroken to the end of his days.' I question this. One, Qianlong was the emperor, which meant that the empire came before his feelings every single time. Two, if he had been so heartbroken why would promote Hoifa-Nara to empress when he could simply leave her as Imperial Noble Consort Xian, the title below the empress? Possible answer: he needed an empress. This would be accurate, however Noble Consort Ling was never promoted to an empress (while she was alive, she was promoted postumately). Consort Ling held the title Imperial Noble Consort Ling and she had 6 children with the Emperor. Three: Would the emperor have 6 children with a woman he had no feelings for just for the sake of an heir when he already have heirs, quite a few of them in fact? Des one only have one love in their lives or can one have more? Emperor Qianlong loved Empress Fucha and one can believe she was the love of his life but whether or not she was or he love another i.e. Imperial Noble Consort Ling as much or in another way, he loved and they love him!
Hi, Thank you so much for writing such a nice article! I really enjoyed reading it and you mentioned Buzzer Beat... wow... that was a very cool drama with Yampi! Gank Your Heart... I haven't heard about it until now but it sounds good so I'm going to check it out. Skate into Love was a breezy drama. Fun to watch but unfortunately for me it didn't come close to Go Go Squid or My Mr. Mermaid which I really loved.
Thanks for this article - I really enjoy reading how other viewers see such emotional shows. I started this drama…
:) Thank you for your comments!!! :) I enjoyed reading your opinion as well! :) I didn't watch Scarlet Heart's Korean version. I watched the trailers and I didn't connect. I loved the original version though! :)
She does return to the modern world at the end and the male lead also travels to the modern world. It seems like…
Seliz, in the past the impression that is given is that they lived together for quite a few years. In the present, however those years were only a matter of days.
I was looking forward to it!
Well... I'm looking forward to reading your next article! :)
Looking forward to PT2! :)
