You know superman’s disguise as Clark Kent is so unconvincing. But I really do think enaga and ae are different. It’s the make up and also the acting. As Enaga, the actor hunches and moves like a nerd. His face muscles are relaxed. As Ae, he has a swagger and great confidence. His face looks hard and cold. He even speaks differently. The actor did well.

that's my interpretation too. The bookshelf scene was so sad I cried, he sealed a part of himself. His choice allows him to soar in his career and allows shirasaki to soar too. If he insisted on getting the role, only 1 person can succeed. He's "sacrificing" his own passion to allow 2 persons to succeed. When he was making the decision, he took Shirasaki as one of the factors.
