For a 2021 drama that I watched in 2025, the first part impressed me with the plot. How the main leads work together for the weapon book and their chemistry is quite promising. Buttttt until eps 17, it's sooo draggy for the rest until I couldn't watch it and ended up dropped this. I know for a sml sfl it need to be jerk person, but they are too delusional sighhhh
Is there anyone who can help me understand the power conflicts that occur in this drama? It's hard for me to follow,…
Wei Shao (LiuYuning) leads the Wei clan and still holds a heavy grudge because his father and brother were killed due to the betrayal of the Qiao clan. Qiao Man aka Xiao Qiao aka Manman (SongZuer) represents her family to marry into a political alliance, although it is initially greeted with suspicion. After the alliance, Wei Shao tried to bring peace, but some Wei members still wanted revenge. The inner conflict between personal ambition and the interests of the people became the heart of political conflict. Characters such as Wei Yan (Wei Shao's cousin) and his close subordinates also have hidden agendas, which sometimes test Wei Shao's authority. Manman had to balance loyalty to her husband and her own family, often playing dual roles in power negotiations. Wei Shao's policies were not just about revenge, either. but also about the resilience of the people. He chose stability, development, and prosperity—against the wishes of the clan, which had previously wanted to keep its distance from the Manman clan. That's about it. Maybe you can see more clearly and in detail in the review of the drama. Hope it helps!
The costume, CGI, actors is soooo good, but I can't feel the story and tend to play speed while watching. Similar incidents like when I watched Love Of The Divine Tree. This seems to make me understand that I am not suitable for watching historical dramas related to the goddess god sect, cultivation(?) But I enjoy watching new Bailu's Drama FEUD. Isn't that also the story of the cultivation of gods? Sigh..
