Does anyone else thinks Katsuo and tsubaki has so much more chemistry than ayumi?
Yes, but to be fair Ayumi x Katsuo really haven't had much screen time together (on purpose).
I actually love Tsubaki x Katsuo remaining platonic; it's a refreshing take. Not every male x female need to get together.
Also, rebounds almost never work out so it'd be quite hasty for either Katsuo or Ayumi to end up with someone else.

My ideal ending would be an open-ended one. It would be too much of a rush for Katsuo & Ayumi to be back together, but also it's not as crazy as I imagined it. They simply have not had much screen time together for us to root for them, the same way Katsuo is with Tsubaki, or heck, even Katsuo x Minamikawa. LOL.

That being said I really don't want the ending to be them together with another person, because we all know how rebounds operate. Rushing into a new relationship after a long-term one has ended, rarely ever works out.

I wouldn't mind an open ending where Katsuo explores the possibility of dating Tsubaki, but I don't want it to be "they're officially together" type of ending.

its funny to see Ayami and Ryoma in this drama being all platonic knowing they were in love, had a child together…
They're really precious together! You can tell they're friends outside of work too, their interactions are so laid back.

At this point it does seem like the script is planning for Katsuo x Ayumi to be back together. While I was originally against this, everything in the buildup is pointing in this direction. I wouldn't mind at all if they ended up with other people (or no one, like open-ended), but them being back together is probably more consistent with the drama being wholesome, vs being with someone else.

It would be wildly inconsistent if Katsuo begs Ayumi to come back, vs reaching a mutual stage where they want to come back together. After all he has never texted her after she left, despite still having a lot of feelings for her.

I also really love the Katsuo x Tsubaki pairing. A Katsuo x Minamikawa pairing will also be fun. I just suspect it won't happen.

Thinking back, throughout the show we've gotten hints that Katsuo and Ayumi are actually very similar in their outlook on life and their views on relationships. They're both homebodies, preferring to be home after work with their loved one vs out partying. They're both super serious about relationships and aren't interested in anything casual (which obviously is not a good thing when you don't know someone that well, like Ayumi + Minato). The scene where she asked Minato to leave the bar and go home to eat dinner together just resonated with me as someone who doesn't like going out. As long as they can work through their communication, them getting back together isn't a stretch.

What makes young people wait until they’re over 34 to get married? I think that’s quite late. Kaho is actually…
I don't think they're supposed to be 35 (I know Kaho's 34 but age may not be exact here). The synopsis just said "they've been out of college for some years". If i had to guess, the characters are around 30 at this time. But yeah, late marriage is the trend now everywhere, I think. Even in the US, in my circle, it's more common to be married in one's 30s than 20s, after careers are established.

Despite most of those who dont want the leads together, with that xiaolongbao episode & probably Chicken Tempura…
I was originally against getting back together, but the script is making it work. I'm loving this writer (not sure how much is original manga, and how much is the screenwriter's credit). It doesn't feel forced at all.

At this point my only complaint of the drama is Ayumi's growth is very delayed compared to Katsuo's. I hope we get to see more of her growth (that has nothing to do with men) in the upcoming eps. I think what I enjoy most about this series is seeing Katsuo grow with the help of colleagues and friends, not another romantic interest. It makes total sense. Ayumi has Nagisa but otherwise she's just not allowing herself to grow on her own (but also, totally understandable, rebound syndrome is common).

Actually, it was a really smart move on her part — and even very realistic — to break up that way without…
How would this be considered cheating? She broke up with him. Minato is a rebound. I'm not a fan of it but the truth is it happens often IRL, and it's not cheating if you've broken up with someone. I've witnessed Ayumi type behaviors from many people getting out of long-term relationships, both male and female.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want them to get back together either. But if the script is able to do that in a logical manner, I won't be too mad.

But at this point, they've grown so much when they're apart, it would be very anticlimactic to end up together again.

On ep 3 now and this is exceeding every single expectation I've had so far. If they keep this up (drama free, just self-exploration, learning about your partners and yourself, and inner introspection), this may yet be my best drama of the year (other contenders are Hot Spot and Tokyo Salad Bowl). Kaho is always lovely and I "discovered" Takeuchi Ryoma here. I cannot get enough of this asshole unaware but utterly charming and adorable Showa era fossil of a man.

Funnily enough apparently Yoshizawa Ryo was meant for this role, then his drinking incident happened and he withdrew, hence Takeuchi Ryoma getting the role. I don't think anyone is going to regret this switch, thus far.

Ayumi as a person has a ton of issues, just like Katsuo. Yes he is the asshole, but someone without her issues wouldn't have put up with this type of behavior (and arguably she enabled him and made him worse than he already was). It is a show about two very imperfect people, and that's why I love it so much so far.

I don't even care about what others object to be questionable morals of the characters, that's really not this drama's worst offense, not even close. The character building here is quite frankly ridiculous. The person causing the "incident" acting the way she does is so unbelievable, and Masaki really doesn't have to hang out with her or really have anything to do with her if he's so annoyed by her. If The first ever Jdrama that is aired on Netflix concurrently with real time in Japan and this is what we get. No thank you. I will keep playing it in the background to let Netflix know I'm willing to shell out money for more Jdramas but. Next time do better.
