I want to watch but I have little faith in Song Wei Long’s acting. How is he in this? If response is encouraging I might just give it a try.. if not then I’ll just wait for Glory.
I have finished watching this drama few hours ago and can't stop listening to the OST!!! OMG why is the OST so good??!
What I love about the drama: 1. The progression in their relationship is slow but steady. The built up is realistic and convincing. 2. The costume!!!! DFCQ definitely have the best costumes I’ve seen in xanxia ever. Tbh I was not expecting Wang Dylan to look so good in costumes (I didn't not watch his previous costume dramas). But damn, the long hair and everything else just chef kiss. 3. The acting is amazing? Both leads are good in their roles. I adore the FL so much, she’s so precious. The last few episodes just broke my heart, they were so good in the crying scenes. 4. The CGI. 5. The OST is 100%.
Few comments: 1. While I love the pace and story, the ending was maybe a liiiiiitle bit ‘meh’ for me? These immortals seems to never ever die lol. I wouldn’t mind a sad ending tbh. it would be more impactful in my opinion. 2. A little bit disappointed nothing happened to the Lord Yunzhong. He was so annoying. 3. I was hoping they would show DFCQ fight scene in the last few episodes, like show how powerful he is. Like he physically didn’t have any intense fighting scenes anyone except in the early episodes. The black dragon also didn't not have any fighting scenes.
I would highly recommend this to anyone. For anyone who has probably never watch xianxia drama before, this would be a good start. I dare say this is definitely the best xianxia I have ever watched. I was actually surprised that I actually like this more than Love Like The Galaxy (I have been waiting for this drama since forever and Wu Lei & Zhou Lusi are my kids).
Anw, I have managed to convince my family to watch this drama as well. My mom and sis just started few days ago.
Managed to finished this in 2 days while on quarantine. Predictable plot, nothing really fresh about it but it gt me hooked. IMO, the main highlight of this drama is the chemistry between the two leads. Their chemistry I have to say is one of the best. All the cringe scenes seemed so natural. Plus, their acting is really good too. A light, stress free rom-com for the sweet tooth. Definitely made for female audiences.
Definitely a 10/10 for me. This is probably my first 10 ratings for this year. This drama is so engaging right from the first episode till the last. Comments:
1. Love everything about it - the characters, the costume, the setting and the plot itself.
2. Zhao Lusi is soooooooooo pretty and Yang Yang looks really good in the costumes. I hope he can act in more period dramas.
3. Honestly, I did not do any research prior to watching this, so I don't really know what to expect. I actually did not expect any romance.
4. I also enjoyed the political side as well, although sometimes the names of the places are a bit confusing.
5. I also really appreciate the CGI showing thousands of people in the battle field. Normally war scenes doesn't look realistic to me coz they always zoom in showing few people but they talk ask if the are thousands of people. But this one was good.
6. If there is one minor comment its the pace towards the end which felt a bit rushed. I wish they could stretched the war into few more episodes to show more detail of what happened.
7. The final fighting felt a bit lacklustre, wish they could stretch it a bit.
Ahh so the YT also updates the episode daily? Thats a relief. I have never actually followed an on-going Chinese drama.. I'm shocked they actually air new episodes everyday.
I just got into watching this drama yesterday and marathon all 10 episodes in YT in one day. Anyone knows how often do they update the subs on YT and on what day? I know that its current at episode 22 else where..
Finally finished all the episodes few minutes ago. The first part was really engaging.. but after 50eps or so I couldn't wait for it to end.
Few things I like about it: 1. The costumes!! The FL's costumes are were really really pretty and the way they matched them with her accessories. 2. The scenes in the mansions are really pretty. Especially room overlooking the garden. 3. Love hate relationship with the FL. I really like her character but yeah. 4. Top notch acting and the chemistry between the two leads.
Things I dont like: 1. Some of the FL's decisions were a bit questionable coz she tries to be righteous. Kinda annoying how she's so forgiving. Nothing rebellious about her character. 2. Huaien's sleepy eyes in the 2nd half of the drama. 3. The resurrection of Wang Lin was unnecessary imo. Could've cut the drama shorter. 4. The way the ML talks. He sounds so robotic. 5. The way Helan Zhen suddenly so blindly in love???
Overall, the drama definitely not the best but I actually enjoyed the show. Would I recommend it to people tho... probably not.
Just finally finished watching this few minutes ago. I binge watching it during quarantine and managed to finish it in 6 days. Few remarks: 1. I looooove how at times there are few small elements of 'black comedy'. 2. It was a bit weird how they accepted the 4th sister with open arms in the last episode. 3. The aesthetic of the houses. The courtyards especially during night times is soooo beautiful. Especially with the little streams here and there. 4. Not sure I like the 'it was all part of a grand scheme' ending. It was a bit 'huh?' for me. 5. I wish the could've stretch the 'happy scenes' in the last episode longer. 6. I have watched a few old setting chinese dramas... I really think I could not survive if I were living in this ancient time. Everyone just talks in circles and its amazing how these people able to intreprate what the real meanings. Also how to react/respond to sticky situations. 7. I like how despite the how the female lead had a strong personality from the get go (like she did not suddenly became strong due to certain situations), the character development was still there.
Anw, overall. I really like the drama. It was really engaging from start to finish... they really did not waste 73 episodes.
Slice of life is really not my cup of tea but I must say that I really enjoyed tis one. Love all the characters. One veeeeery minor comment tho.. it was kinda frustrating to watch Dusik's friend's wife putting the blame on Dusik for his death when he wasn't even driving the car. I dont really get this part. Even when she saw Dusik again after so many years and knew that he has suffered, she said she didnt regret what she did to him. How was what happened any of his fault? He was on the passenger seat. Even if he was driving, nobody should be blamed for an accident like that. Its just off putting when she didnt even said sorry. I could understand the other guy's situation with his father but not this one..
Just finished this drama, and I must say its better than I expected. My expectations were not that high due to the comments I read but naah, its a really fun and enjoyable drama. Few things I like:
1. The younger brother character practically contributes nothing to the team but his character definitely makes the whole drama fun. A very much needed character I have to say.
2. Chengge's character is too good to be true. I loooooooooove his playfulness and naughtiness.
I think we have different view on this drama but for sure it's confusing af. 1. To begin with, I don't think Qin…
2. Omg I finished 30 eps and all this while I thought the guy (ZSC’s 2nd uncle?) was the step mom’s husband. Which was why I kept thinking she was making all these decisions and not him. #facepalmmoment
3. Because everyone was putting all that blame on ZWC for ZWX death I thought there was something more that I missed or didnt understand.
I cant imagine how it can get any crazier that this. Wow
Watching this right after OAO and NGL, I wast expecting a messy family drama.
Few comments: 1. The Zhou's family relationship is just too confusing. I dont know who is who's siblings/parents/uncles. Why the mother even hate ZSC? What is the Grandmother's problem with the mother? 2. Why is the mother the head of the family and making all the decisions and not the father?? 3. I tried to understand WenXing's voice recording to Shi Yi but I'm just probably too dumb. Why she pushed ShiYi out of the boat? Why she 'sacrificed herself'? Also, what did her brother actually do to her? 4. The Zhou family is too messed up for my brain. I dont even understand whats going on most of the time. 5. I was really looking forward to the wedding scene after seeing some clips but in the drama itself it seems a little anti-climatic since they've already registered their marriage and have been living together.
Things I like: 1. WenXing and Sheng Ren are sooo adorable. 2. The Zhou's family house. 3. I love how ZSC's personality in FAE and OAO are somewhat similar but different.. but I can't exactly pinpoint them. 4. ShiYi always taking the initiative in their relationship. Her character is just perfect. 5. Allen Ren's acting.
The drama definitely fell short compared to it's prequel but overall, this is still a good drama. It was actually engaging (at least for me) from start to finish. However, as a sequel to a great but heart wrenching drama, I wish they kept it simpler... for the fans of the prequel.
Just finished this few minutes ago I immediately come here to comment. I think this might just be my fav drama this year. I really love the relationship development, so pure and beautiful. Slow burn dramas are the best.
Few things I want to comment tho: 1. They change emperor like they change clothes. 2. I was kinda disappointed the villains died so easily. 3. Yangshao could've killed Jin Rong right before they 'punished' ZSC. Or he could've saved ZSC. It was frustrating how he suddenly act all righteous in the last minute. 4. I feel like they could've easily request to cancel the marriage engagement when they change the emperors (after they took down the Empress Dowager)
Any, still a very good drama which I will re-watch again and again even tho my heart hurts. But now, I'm off to watch FAE!
Just finished watching the drama. I initially wanted to give it a a really high rating because it was really engaging. but sadly towards the end the whole thing got really draggy and I can't wait for it to end. I managed to watch ep1 - ep38 in 3 days but I dragged the last 7 eps in 4 days.
Overall though, I really like the drama. The FL is really really adorable. She's super cute when she smiles. And I really like the character of the ML as well.. he was stern and serious but also gentle and kind at the same. The setting is really beautiful too. The mansion looked so big it almost feels like they were in a palace. I love the wood carved circle window in the FL's room. All the other characters were great too. I especially like little love story of the Dongqing and General Fu.
I would definitely recommend this drama tho for anyone who likes slow burn romance or inner politics (??) between women / power struggle.
What I love about the drama:

Although I must say, Zhu Zanji is definitely XuKai's cutest role.
