I'm also trying to defend him but his actions really aren't okay rn. he's contradicting himself in so many ways. he looked like he liked JS the first day and did call him but then the second day, was supposed to go out with SH who he claimed he also liked but eventually (not his fault tho) went out with HyungJin only to call HyungJun at night. like shvt does not even make sense. and then you received 3 calls including SH's but then said you were sad cause you didn't get the call you wanted that means there's a person he actually liked and wanted to call him, then you said you can't reciprocate the feelings of these 3 people including SH's but later proceeded to ask SH out on a date the next day, a date which btw in which you were contemplating to pick a card or not, then you came back from the date with SH and later had a chat with YH, which seemed rather intimate/romantic. Asides from this aspect, he seemed like he wanted some kind of validation and attention from the others. I recently re-watched the show and after the date with SH there was a part where he wanted to show the others their drawings and seemed to want everyone to like his more even when it was clear SH's drawing was way better. it's weird. but I still try to defend him cause I could also be misunderstanding him

how does it make sense that he lied? am I talking to another human? how does it make sense that lied to his bf to go see another boy that he knew had feelings for him and acted like y'all were on a date and stood like a statue when he kissed you while you have a BF?! don't try to justify what he did. it DOES NOT make sense. and on Patt's part, I do agree he took it way overboard and got too aggressive but his anger was provoked, now THAT makes sense.
