I wrote a review for the drama series too and gave it 10 out of 10 for its maturity and innovation. I had no idea about SLS or that people hated SLS. I had no idea this drama was hated for that very reason. I'm glad you highlighted the need for maturity in your review because if the SLS is the only reason to hate a drama then just say that, but explain why. This drama wasn't just focused on romance here. I loved the Sci-Fi aspect. The main character to me was the app. Everyone else was just background characters.
I just learned something new today: I didn't know that Second-Lead Syndrome was triggering actually... But I dropped watching Cheese in the Trap, bcuz the ML made me uncomfortable.
I think this is the case with a lot of the heavy romcom ones but there are still so many great cdramas out there!…
There are a few Cdramas I love out there and I leave good reviews for those dramas too! Like Ashes of Love, Ultimate Note, The Untamed and Word of Honor. WoH was actually the last Cdrama I've watched and then everything that happened afterward just deterred me away from the Chinese Entertainment industry for now.... I'm sticking with Mandarin music & dance instead so I can listen & watch choreography videos on Spotify & YT. However, I'll give Legend of Fei a try since I know Wang Yibo is in there and the show is free to watch on YT with Eng subs. Thanks for the recommendation!
I'm so happy Cheng Ling is on this list! Yay! Also, I loved the babies from Begin Again, Unforgettable Love, and TMOPB - though I didn't like the dramas entirely and dropped two of them for different reasons. The baby boys from these dramas are adorable! Thank you for the article!
Thank you for this insightful article because it is very, very, very needed and I honestly don't watch Cdrama romances anymore. I wasn't a fan of the original manga from Japan 'Hana Yori Dango' bcuz despite the main female lead's struggle to not be with the main male lead - she still ends up being together with the school's biggest bully. (Not just any bully - but the richest, most handsome, and petty bully!) No thank you. Meteor Garden is not up my alley and one fan of the main male lead on YT told me that I needed to be more 'open-minded' when I told them I didn't like the show because of this toxic reason. I hope that fan realizes that fantasizing over an actor for an abusive role they played is not healthy at all. (I'm really worried about the way they phrased it '...if you saw meteor garden and you will follow him you'll know how wonderful he is!...I give all my heart to him...' what is that supposed to mean? I typed exactly what they wrote and it still baffles me. How can you give all of your heart to someone who doesn't know you exist? That's unfair to you and your heart deserves better.) Plus, the recent regulations on dramas might mean that there will not be much creativity and experimentation for new tropes in Cdramas for the next couple of years. Having a lack of variety in dramas means more Rinse & Repeat tropes like 'noncon/dubcon as romantic' or 'Rich man/Poor woman' or 'Cold Male Lead/Warm Female Lead'. All men are not uncontrollable monsters and all women are not innocent maidens that need some tough love to finally know what love is and be seen as a woman in society. That's a hard no for me.
I'm soooo ready for Immorality to come out! I checked the main actors' horoscopes and noticed Arthur and Leo are 12 years apart which means they share the same Chinese zodiac: Dragon! That great compatibility will hopefully reflect on-screen with great chemistry between the two. This wait better be worth it
Congrats on his success! I hope it continues! My first introduction to him was through Ultimate Note and his singing from the OST. Superb talent indeed

These are recent articles that talk about the more recent regulations and updates to the censorship of the Entertainment industry by the CCP. These regulations also cross over into more industries than just the Entertainment industry.

I would love to live vicariously through the FL in this drama. Yes to food and love! 🤣
