I agree that there were questionable details to the movie. But I dont think she became his dads caretaker... His brother and sister in law take care of the dad. But bc ML asked his dad to take care of FL since he knew he was going to die, he goes to see her. Which obviously is dangerous since he has some sort of memory illness. But I think he also asked his dad to do so because shes all alone. He said so himself, he wanted to marry her by the time her dads funeral anniversary rolled around so he could show him that shes not alone. It was her dad and her, but he passed and she was alone, and since he felt like he would die because of the aneurysm, he asked his dad to be her dad and keep her company. He felt bad that he was abandoning her. And since his dad loved him, afterall his life was shit because he took on the burden of his brothers business failure, he wanted to do that fo him, and even if he was sick he still remembered enough to do so.
im starting episode 18 and omg the only thing i have to say is Ruting is so annoying... why is she so clingy? ik shes a side character and its not really focused on her and duan xi but when they went to the date at the garden... like let him be interested in the surroundings... you literally call him a botanist 😭😭
I agree he was an asshole, that is his character... but when it comes to how rude he was to the friends, I dont particularly agree with you there. You are right that people arent so accepting of that kind of behavior. However, the whole aspect to that is the fact that the friends have been coddled and protected their entire lives.
Academically they have never been challenged. Zhu Yun did everything how her mom wanted, so she was always the good student. Same goes for Miaomiao and Jianhong. I mean he said he was the best and #1 student at whichever HS/town he was at before going to Uni. So when they meet someone better than them they are all shocked, as they went to Uni thinking theyd at least be equals.
In terms of how he treated them, this also comes from them being protected. Li Xun grew up fighting for himself and his family. He acted out by being rude and blunt, especially since his classmates irritated him by 1) being annoying (bothering him about things that didnt concern them, aka, miaomiao and the monitor tasks, teaching others, etc) and 2) the fact that they were all coddled and protected (which is understandable imo since everything that happened in HS, he just directed his anger at them)
But, Miaomiao, Jianhong and even Yun had no backbones because they were raised in such good environments with no troubles. I thought he came in and gave them a reality check. And since reality checks are blunt, he was exactly that. Li Xun crossed the line a lot, in the end though, it changed all of them. Just like how they all changed him.
Miaomiao became a lawyer, despite getting sad/annoyed/speechless whenever people told her the truth (Li Xun and Ren Di). Jianhong defended himself, in a crazy ass way, but he did. Yun also learned to defend herself... she stopped being a pushover. And Li Xun, became more in touch with his feelings. He couldve kept going until Jianhong died, after all he contributed to Li Lans death... but he chose to stop because he cared about him.
They all helped each other in one way or the other. Whether it was with rudeness, accidentally killing a family member... they all supported each other because they all cared for each other.

yeah… hated that scene too. it is different in asia, but in all honesty i thought she would do something considering her situation in the past. i’m glad she ended up being able to defend herself, poor mei mei did not deserve to go through dealing with that at work, and he got what deserved, qirang did too.
