I would consider watching something else? Even though I really enjoyed this drama, I usually give a drama a 4 episode trial period and if I don't like it after 4, I probably won't like it. So don't feel like you have to watch just because a lot of people like it :)

Yeah, I watched the first 20 mins and had to skim through the rest :/ I was so excited too because they are the leads in one of my favorite dramas of all time Boss and Me! (which you should check out hehe ^.^)

Yeah, that's true. The writers definitely should have known better. Let me put one more thing out there? In Taiwan, foreigners are looked up to as very sophisticated and are kind of superior so they're saying that because this awesome foreigner is buying this soap, the soap must be really good. The way they went about promoting that is wrong and they really should have found a true foreigner instead. But what really made me uncomfortable and what I thought was truly truly offensive was when they said that it's used to make his skin whiter. In East Asian countries whiter skin to them seems more beautiful because of the idea of white supremacy that spread. It's something that I'm struggling against myself because it seems to be deeply ingrained in the minds of my relatives. But I hope anyone that reads this knows that you are beautiful no matter what color your skin is :)

I completely understand where you're coming from. It was totally uncalled for, offensive, and ignorant on their part. But you also have to understand that Taiwan has a completely different history from the U.S. Blackface was not a big issue there like it was in the U.S. I'm not trying to justify their behavior, but gotta look at both sides you know?

Yes, as someone who now absolutely loves it now, I didn't get into it until the third episode either. It definitely gets better once they've gone to Urk and the setting is no longer in Seoul. I think you'd love it if you kept going ^.^

I was very very hesitant about the military aspect of the show, but I definitely do not regret it. It hasn't even finished and it's become one of my favorite dramas. The show has the perfect blend of action, romance, and comedy. The plotline is super solid and it's not draggy whatsoever.
