I was really, really looking forward to this because of Yan Xi, but now am a little wary because of some of the…
I think you should definitely give it a try! I just wrote a few of my thoughts after finishing it in a comment above ^ I've seen a few of your reviews before and I think you'll enjoy this one :)
Just binged all 24 episodes in the last three days! I think most of the negative commenters didn't get past the first episode so I'd like to offer a more objective point of view. Firstly, DON'T get put off by the first episode, because while it can be really really cringy, it gets so much better later especially after a handful of episodes. I almost dropped it too but I'm glad I stuck with it. I would say this seems similar to The Eternal Love (two souls in one body) with a xianxia twist to it. It's definitely a drama to be taken lightly and made for a fun watch in between more serious dramas. The cinematography was actually surprisingly good and didn't use the ultra-saturated filters that lower budget dramas typically use. And they really didn't skimp on the kiss scenes either! Not saying it's the best drama ever but I think it deserves more credit (8/10)
Also if anyone has watched any xianxia dramas like Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms or Pillow Book, you can think of this drama as just the cut of the heavenly trial of a god in the mortal realm :)
Every time there's petals falling (and there's a lot of scenes) a bunch always gets stuck in the ML's hair bc it's soooo spiky lol Also avoided this at first bc it was the Republican era and those usually involve a lot of war with Japan and all that but this had none of that! Just cute and fluffy with the time period as a backdrop
I know this is besides the point of the drama but the bits where LJG looks like a doting father and husband are so cute :’) THAT, I can watch a whole show of
PSA if you don't need subs don't watch on Youtube! There's random (and annoying) music tracks added to the point where you can barely hear them speak. I had stop watching on Youtube because I couldn't stand the audio issues which is a shame bc I liked that it saves where you left off :/
Nobody is talking about the cute little animated scenes? Okay then...I actually really liked this for the romance.…
I was hesitating to start this because I watched both the other versions and was disappointed by the lack of romance. This looks like they added a lot of it!
Is this real or just a pairing from fans? is there any confirmation yet? Both are my favorite actors. I hope the…
Apparently "industry sources" have said this? Not sure how credible that is especially since the actors themselves haven't confirmed, but hopefully it's true!
