On Battle of the Writers Nov 14, 2024
personally, when the title said 'battle of the writers' i thought there would be an actual battle and so that sorta ruined any objectivity towards the story. i genuinely wish there was an actual battle or face off between the writers or at least a show of a long slump before coming together to write stuff.
the show somehow felt like pwp for a bit :/ but ig it's okay, it's definitely something you can watch if you don't have any expectation of what the story might be

this episode is all over the place. how did they go from confessing their feelings to discussing marriage and…
Personally, im still confused about the ring as well, but im guessing its either magical OR its seomthing to with living in a corrupt society where the kingmakers have more power than the king (i come from such a place so thats why i think it didnt bother me a lot)

With regards to them suddenly talking about marriage, i think its just to show what Jack sees for his future. It could be that Jack wanted to see if his thoughts aligned with Joke??

And the random ily in between, that was definitely to show that Joke knows whats coming and that he blames himself for what might happen and that he wants to do everything to make it right even if he dies in the process so just "please trust me that I love you"

But tbh, i do agree that some things were rushed, i feel like the show could have done with an extra ep so that ep10 could have been about the relationship, carbon and to show the extent of Boss' madness and maybe the Toi Ting thing could have happened next ep but yk, im not too mad. It would have probably hurt to see J&J's relationship having happy moments while one harboured a secret

Watched the new one today and honestly the family part was my favorite. But Jack should have known that Joke did…
I think it was because it was dawning on Joke that it all stemmed from the fact the ring is with Boss which meant that he is the one that could be indirectly responsible for what happened to Toi Ting

About the card Nang sent Joke: I don't think it implies the character is foolish or can be manipulated. Regardless…
oooh that's interesting! i thought it might also be a play on words especially when they got Aran to translate it, but what you said adds so much layer to it! thank you for letting me know :]
also, i think when i said he could be manipulated, i meant it more like...others might think he could be used as a pawn, eg, Boss and Nang might think they can get away with using him because of how impulsive he can be. but now that you reminded me of what Save said, ig being seen as a pawn could be seen as a disguise tactic too!
(idk if i'm making any sense anymore)

but genuinely, thank you for educating me on what the tarot cards mean. I too genuinely enjoy the magic elements, the foreboding/prophesies in the show, it makes it so much more fun!
On Jack & Joker: U Steal My Heart! Nov 11, 2024
For everyone wondering why the show didnt delve into them being anti-heroes, i actually had the same issue but then i realised that they might have wanted to be a little...realistic in their story telling.

I later watched their press conferences and Yin says that they tried to make sure that they werent glamourising crime and being the cause of bad influences.

So ig it makes sense why Joke for being a legendary thief is actually an amateur, impulsive thief, and they go the extra mile to show that Joke, while talented, is just very lucky (and probably can easily manipulated which was hinted by Nang giving him The Fool card).

I think the fans of Yin, War, Prom and Bonz are especially passionate about this project because YWPB have put in their own money, taken the reins on this project to make sure they do something that is different and that they are proud of. And also fans loved this concept from their fanconcert trailer, so thats there too.

rewatching the episode after a goodnight's sleep and i gotta say, the yin and zorzo scene where jack says he wants to go home is so funny! rose's reaction to jack wanting to go home, jack's reluctant yes is just so funny, all the expressions were so good!!
