First ep was like a 7/7.5 out of 10 for me. Enjoyed the friendship between the 3 girls and I think the FL lead has improved a little bit since I saw her in K2 which is nice. Pretty standard run of the mill cliche rom com which just doesn’t work for me anymore. For me to like rom coms like this I need some star actors/actresses and it has to be funny like A Business Proposal for example lol
on the drinking scene i actually appreciate it (and personally it feels natural to me), its for the character…
I agree I thought it was necessary! I just think it wasn’t produced/edited in a way to maximize what it was trying to do. Like they were alone, there was like no soundtrack, and it was a very long scene with awkward pauses. I was more criticizing how the scene was produced more than what the scene was.
Okay so I really liked ep 1 and 2. Ep 3 was okay but there were a lot of awkward scenes especially the drinking scene with that foreign waiter. They dragged out that conversation and it was so awkward to watch. Also I dont understand how they went from barely addressing/talking to one another to going to Han River together and acting like nothing happened???? (transition from ep 3 to 4). That was honestly so weird and I can't get over it
On ep 5 and I have so many issues with this drama but its still so entertaining lmfao?
- I hate when FL's act so cringey towards their crush. - One of my least fav tropes is when a friend likes another friend but once that friend has a crush and the chance to have a relationship the friend starts getting in the way of that without confessing their own feelings. So as of right now I dont want the main leads together even tho I know they will end up together. -The magnet couple honestly dont fit each other. They barely have anything in common, their conversations are so surface level, and they are sometimes really cringey. They also have bad communication skills. -The girl in the magnet couple is so oblivious to her friend's efforts to steal her BF and when she does catch on she literally lets the friend gaslight her LMFAO.
Honestly the only likable characters so far are the FL's crush, the clean freak, and the girl with diabetes (honestly looking forward to them getting together).
After all of that being said im still so entertained which is so odd to me because if this was another drama I literally would have dropped it if I had this many issues.
One of my main issues with a lot of rom-coms is the addition of some type of murder/stalker mystery that does not move the plot in anyway. For being a "Crash Course in Romance" I feel like the show lost a lot of its integrity and charm as some of the side plot lines that were much darker in tone started to take over. I think the show would've been much better if they ditched the murder mystery plot line with Mr. Ji and focused more on different types of emerging romance. Examples like enemies to lovers with our main couple, friends to lovers or the love triangle with the high school group, and how to navigate and learn about love from the perspective of someone who is neurodivergent. I just feel like the show was marketed as something entirely different from what it actually was. Overall I give it like a 7-7.5/10.
I see a lot of comments praising this "bromance" but so far all I see is a distasteful obsession from Jihoon's character. Like who would be that obsessed to befriend someone?
