most of the characters/love interests in chao planoy's novels are incredibly toxic and truly are red flags. sometimes, she uses weird plot devices like the age gap in Blank, but imo Us is one of her least toxic novels (there still are some scenes here that make me raise my eyebrows. pam is superrr jealous, one could even say controlling. at one point, pam calls rak an "easy woman" for just talking to another person, but then a few chapters later, pam intentionally flirts/entertains another person to make rak jealous)
ik in thailand, trans ppl are treated a bit differently there. they acknowledge their gender at birth and multiple times they're seen joking around. in the novel, rak has a trans friend (titang). she repeatly calls titang a ladyboy and uses the phrase "man loving man situation" or smth similar to that when referring to titang's lovelife. like i said, transgender culture is vastly differently in thailand, but i can see how it could cause some anger around interfans, so fingers crossed the show changes the dialogue
there's also just a lot of personal plot points that i don't want to see acted, but i'm afraid this comment will get too long lol

i don't think she's "stupid." selfish? yes. but that trait of hers perfectly shows that sooji is a morally gray protagonist. she's not a goody two-shoes person like jaeun, so their dynamic makes it more entertaining to watch. her character also encompasses what the "bystander effect" is too. if you continue, i think you'll appreciate her more because of her character development.
