Yes, he always liked her and helped her when she was in trouble. They changed a lots of things in drama, probably because they are limited with time. So they focused more on her relationship with JCY because it is more important than relationship with her cousin.

Don't forget that he told her boss to remove her from list of people applying for work in different city for a year. He is meddling in her job and thinks only of himself and how will her actions reflect on his career. Also he doesn't have faith in her abilities because he hired ML to write proposal for her.

First ep may seem a little bit boring but it gets better when FL starts to fight for herself in 2nd and 3rd ep.
