oftentimes people rate the drama according to what they wanted (which wasnt even the intention of the writers at all), rather than looking at it as something more than just a product of their own consumption. it's quite annoying tbh.
Yi Chan is not deaf from birth so why he couldn't speak? People who are deaf can also speak with training though…
he is deaf for most of his lifetime. he cant hear himself speak, so he just lost the confidence and practice of speaking overall, i guess. if someone asked him to speak in 2023, he probably will be able to make sounds, but hardly, since he hasn't used his voice in so long.
if u noticed he was still audible after the accident, when he spoke to eungyeol and admitted he isn't able to hear his own voice.

the drama tells you over and over that you can't change fate. you're trying to make the future be something it's not supposed to. he lost his hearing, but he got a lot of other good things. there could've been so much worse that happened to him
