I haven't read the novel but I was hoping either the police would show up or Keen will be the one to kill Lily. The Keen part did happen in the book, I'm happy now lol

I think they're not shutting the emergency (ER) but they don't want life-and-death situations as much as possible (counter-intuitive for them being in the medical field). That's the irony and maybe the sad truth happening? The medical field has slowly(?) become a commercialized industry and not a healthcare facility anymore
