i think straight men wouldn't really admit that something like that happened. i mean, you can go on dating apps to see people labeled as straight searching for other men. furthermore, settings like college dorms and military dorms are just the perfect environment for that stuff to happen and there are even licensed professional stating that men can have intercourse with men and still not be considered gay. the other part i agree with you

If you rewatch the scene closely you’ll see that is actually Bay Luo Yin’s father that suggests they shower together. And in one of the last episodes, when Bay Luo Yin tells his mothers he's showering with Gu Hai, his mother actually gets happy because they are getting along well. - You can’t deny that the jerking off setting does happen in real life, even between “straight men”. - Some people may see his behavior as predatory or something like that but, I think we need to remember that the character is described in the book as someone that always got everything he wanted. So when he wants someone that he can’t initially have, he tries his best to get it, of course, sometimes being over the top.
His behavior is kinda problematic and I’m not trying to justify it all, but yeah, when it comes to what you mentioned, these are my points.
