it airs on wednesdays and thursdays :) edit: I see other people saying thursdays and fridays also, and I'm confused now LOL. anyway 4 episodes a week, total episodes 23 but somewhere else says 24 sooo yeah.

ah, I don't know if what I'm saying is answering what you're asking but.. yeahhh. Also, I kind of forgot already :p I'll try. It wasn't his mother that kept them apart. He disappeared because he didn't manage to qualify for the prestigious Tsinghua University which is based in Beijing so he studied another year to do so and also I'm pretty sure he promised to "meet" her in Beijing but since he didn't qualify, he couldn't keep that promise. It was mainly his own pride that 'kept them apart'. He felt sorta ashamed, in a sense. You know, man pride. Also, he did go to look for her in Beijing but he misunderstood when he saw her with that guy roller blading and holding hands so he just left. And she thought he didn't look for her and stuff like that. Thus it was also the misunderstandings that kept them apart. He qualified the second time round but he in the end didn't go to the uni as his mother was very sick. So I guess she indirectly but not purposely and also unknowingly kept them apart too as he could have met her if he had gone. He also did not want to burden her as he didn't really have a 'future', he wasn't doing well. Again, his man pride. But the last part where he went to the tree they planted together, that's a good ending.
