Finished it! And yup my opinion has not changed, though that may have to do more with the fact that I don't remember the ending episodes of the original as much as the rest of it for some reason so I can't compare the endings too well : )
Lol this jdrama was so sweet and uplifting I feel like I have to watch something dark and depressing now.

I'm watching it right now! As someone who has seen the original Korean version, and even the Turkish version (though I don't recommend it b/c it's very superficial), I can say that I think the jdrama remake is better so far on almost every level. A lot of things that season 2 is based off of, the entire backstory and the characters and their relationships and abilities, are all explained in season 1, so I would suggest watching it. I think you'll be pretty confused/lost if you don't. Plus the first season was REALLY good in my opinion so I think you'll enjoy it, too : )

A soft reboot...yeah I think that's a good way of putting it. And I also noticed the change in tone of the series, plus major character regression of the FL; she's back to the way she was at the beginning of season 1.

I've watched the first couple of episodes and it's definitely not a reboot, they allude and flash-back to things that have happened in the first season.
