I know we just entered Feb, but this probably is going to be my drama of 2023 (and def entered top5 of all time)! Had me laughing, crying and learning life lessons at the same time. Going to miss all the characters, and definitely will be keeping my eyes on the actors' and writer's future projects <3
Really glad I ran into this gem of a drama, and will definitely be following the future works of the main leads. Hope there'll be more dramas like this in jdrama world, and it was lovely interacting with so many of you out here <3
I also watched it (even though I don't understand japanese almost at all, I couldn't wait ^^). I agree with everything…
I'm sad it'll be over in an episode too TT Hoping we get an hour long episode haha
Kazao didn't particularly mention any country but just said he wanted to go overseas to a new place where he doesn't understand the language to take pictures of people.
So the ending part roughly is:
Kazao: What are you doing, Umi-chan? Your are carrying more load than you can. The same goes for Yuka-chan. Isn't it because you use their "expectations" and "hopes" on you as a motivation? Umi: I know! Kazao: No you don't! Umi: Please don't follow me...
Umi: I wish you hadn't seen that (Umi breaking down earlier)...I beg you, please don't follow me ... Kazao: No (as in I'll follow you)! Umi: Why? Kazao: Because I like you. Because I like you, Umi-chan.
Done with ep 7 (yayy! 49 mins!), and love how realistic Umi is as a character. She has her faults (which can be seen now and then), but which human doesn't? That's what makes her more realistic imo.
I think she kinda holds Kazao to pedestal, as he was like her "savior" and played a key part in getting her to Animal Beauty, so though I know it's not in her place to get mad at him, I can actually see why she reacted like that.
Also, as a person who is feeling quite lost about her career, getting relied upon on work can quite be the "push", and that's probably how she ended up overdoing it. Not going to go into details here, but it seems like she's starting to realize her feelings, so looking forward to how it plays out next week :)
Small, subtle stuff, but don't you love how Umi gradually goes from calling him Nagamine-kun to Kazao? (Pretty sure it's Kazao, dunno why in mdl it's Kazuo...)
