Well, there are set budgets. And then you have actors,writers,etc that make room in their schedules. Once that contract is up. There is no guarantee you can bring them back. They have other projects or just might not want to come back.Then you have sets made that will be redesigned for the next show.

Permits for filming locations you have to renew. Agreements with advertisers. The list is endless. And all this has to be setup,negotiated and signed before shooting.

So you see why it would be a problem trying to reschedule? And they arent going to spend more money just to shoot the rest of the show,years later. Audience would be gone.

You can't exactly wait years.Once a show is greenlit. You have a set schedule to shoot and broadcast it by the station.
