Don't hate, but the character I cared about most was Win. He might be a jerk, an ass, insensitive, shallow, a drunk, an addict, and more. But I never wanted to see somebody turn around as much as him. I've been rooting for him since Season 1.
Felt so bad for Thee. I wish he would find someone that would treat him right. Phu's episode was a highlight for his character growth but I wish Thee could let go and find someone who would be good for him.
The video doesn't really explain why GH pretends to be poor. The book explains that, based on an earlier conversation about BYL hating rich people, GH sees his wealth as another barrier that BYL puts between them, so he pretends to be poor so he can be close to BYL without that barrier.
Specifically a long date with Jin Lu Lu, another dinner at the Bai's, and a lot of internal dialog and feelings BYL was having because he missed GH. It is kinda missing in the video, but at this point BYL seems to have developed enough feelings for GH that he was pretty moody without GH there, even missing sharing the bed with GH. In the video, BYL's feelings toward GH aren't shown well but he definitely has them.
After he gets rekt by Gu Hai, Bai Luo Yin believes Gu Hai will be taken to a Juvenile Detention Center and kicked out of school. He doesn't know that Gu Hai's dad is a general in the military and more powerful than Wu Fang's connections. The book is much more graphic about this.
I was OK with the ending because I could sympathize with HH and LZ. We've all probably been on both sides of that fence: love someone who doesn't feel the same or being loved by someone when we just wanted to be friends. Also the ending left it open. Of course I want to see them together! Season 2, I hope, or I'm gonna read the novel.
The biggest problem is that neither one of them understands the other. HH can't understand that LZ is having a hard time coming to terms with a homosexual relationship, especially the physical part, and LZ can't understand why he drives HH wild, making him want to do these things. If they could understand one another, I think the relationship would work. Of course, that would require open and frank communication which doesn't happen.
I just wish HH would understand LZ and be more supportive. One cannot just force another to be intimate, if they are not inclined to, by kissing them and touching them. I saw that same theme in other dramas: trying to use sexual harassment to win a straight guy over. Being the recipient of that, I can tell you it's very irritating, not romantic. I'll get off my soapbox now. :O)
