Call me spoiled from Six Flying Dragons superb 50 episodes but I honestly believe these writers can give us 30…
Cost is usually the limiting factor. Compared to Six Flying Dragons, this show has been one of the most expensive if not THE most expensive production a cable network has ever undertaken in Korea.
I don't suppose you have a link where we could see the little clips, even without eng sub.
The official Instagtam actually uploads them too with subs now for the recent episodes. Kind of unfortunate it's not part of the actual streaming uploads.
Episode 14 Sanung & Mutruv (Tagon's parents) Background (this one is particularly heartbreaking given its ties to the first episode): https://www.instagram.com/p/B2L-yFNpVCZ/
Those of us who watch this on Netflix or KissAsian (as opposed to tvN broadcast or broadcast rips) miss out on the two minutes background lore explanations that comes after the "next episode preview" at the end of each episode that broadcasts on tvN. For example, Episode 13 had Xabara's background lore, and Episode 14 had the meeting between Tagon's father and mother.
I will rip these and post a more friendly link later for all the clips. Full of background information we do not get (but should have) through the show itself and not even available on streaming platform broadcasts. EDIT: Done, look at my newer comment above.
It might feel a tad slow at times, but there are very few dramas that can make you be at the edge of your seat for the whole damn episode like this one.
After HDL ending, I thought I'd get some happy vibes out of this one for this week, but damn, it turned super sad. Is that a thing now? Romantic Comedies turning into Melodrama? At least from the preview it's clear all the plot bombs that have been setup all this time are about to finally go off.
May I know how the rating of 8.3 came about? I am totally impressed with this drama overall. Where did the 1.7…
It happens a lot with Shin Se Kyung's works (and sometimes with Cha Eun Woo too), instant low rating even before they watch it. They have a lot of anti-fans.
Unlike most comments, I actually like how HDL ended. In the very beginning, it was already hinted that Man Weol…
To me that's part of the slight disappointment. It was foreshadowed early on and throughout that it'll be a sad, bittersweet ending and one would be left alone. Would have been interesting if there was a slight twist on that.
Still, tying is all up with what was essentially a "happy ending" dream sequence is the best way they could have handled the ending as they did given where they had arrived at plot-wise.
Hong Sisters. I am in a love-hate relationship with your works. Goddamn last episode made me run out of tears and my heart still aches. Everything still felt a bit rushed. Would it have killed them to include a bit more touching and affectionate moments between the leads so we can have some happy memories? What am I supposed to do now that it's over? :'<
One observation: The entirety of Hotel Del Luna had a run-time of 21.3 hours (including opening and ending of each episode). If the drama had stuck to the typical tvN duration of ~70 minutes per episode, it would have had to be 18 episodes long. Instead they opted for almost movie length episodes 12 to 16. This makes me wonder just how much they had to actually cut and what scenes they had to shorten to make it fit the 16 episodes format while keeping advertisers happy in their 2-hour weekend timeslots. It really felt like some parts were compressed or rushed a bit. Congratulations to the cast and crew for crossing the 12% rating threshold on the finale, highest rated tvN drama of the year so far, and becoming one of the top 10 highest rated Korean dramas in cable television history. Looking forward to hopefully a fancy Bluray release.
I don't think that taking a marriage where both parties were unhappy and turning it into a kdrama/romanticizing…
They started to publicize their marriage through their show to start with. I suppose it's only fair we get to look at the breakdown of it all publicly as well. Heck, half the reason Ahn Jae Hyun is even a relevant celebrity in Korea is because of his "good husband" image through that show.
Look at all the other married couples that appear on reality TV in different countries. They generally don't have a happy relationship in the long term.
"It's me. I'm Mr. Contrarian. Look at me. I'm cool!"
Not sure it is a right. More like he (or she) is permitted to have an opinion within the confines of his societal (or in this case, community) limitations. He should also attempt to express said opinion more eloquently, support his claims, instead of a simple generalized negative statement among a sea of positive opinions. And if it is in fact a right that he is exercising, then I also have a right to call him out on it.
