I get what you mean. I kept reminding myself to stop comparing novel and drama so I can enjoy this betteršŸ˜….…
Yes, yeeees! HY is HY, but XJ isn't XJ. And, really, Ryan Cheng is a great actor, they didn't need to change so much about XJ...

That's exactly what I've been thinking. And Ying Xiang does so much for him.Poor Ying Xiang
CP also gives her a poison that causes her flesh to rot and has no antidote, so, in the end, she's trapped in a dungeon, rotting, and asks CH to kill her.

I’m torn about Chu. Is he truly a villain… or just a lost soul shaped by a life without proper guidance? There’s…
He's much more likable here. Let's see if this continues, or if CH is going to do something shady.

She can't leave the army now, or she would be considered a deserter.

Few lines that end the side story: 159, 160 and *161*.

ā€œDon’t you feel pain? You don’t have a sense of pain? You don’t cry out when you’re hurt?ā€

He Yan sensed that he seemed a bit angry.

She instinctively replied, ā€œI… I don’t feel pain.ā€

A faint trace of mockery flashed in the young man’s eyes as he calmly said to her, ā€œIs it that you don’t feel pain, or you dare not feel it? Is it that you think it’s unnecessary, or you don’t need to?ā€

After saying this, he released her arm and turned away without looking back at He Yan.

ā€œWhat a temper he has,ā€ He Yan muttered softly to herself, standing in place for a while, ā€œNo one has ever taught me, and no one has ever comforted me either.ā€

If you enjoyed it, I recommend reading the novel chapters about their story. It's quite sad but very well-written. I can tell you which ones they are.

Of course, Yan He should! I cried on his chapters and he only appear in the later chapters. Him and his wife are…
Exactly, because I wasn't talking about a happy ending as a couple. The way she dies and what she suffers before that is very cruel... I know most of it probably won't be repeated because they tend to soften things in series, but I really hope she doesn't die and overcomes Chu Zao. And I really cried a lot with Yan He and Liu Buwang, the saddest part for me was when he reunites with the princess afterwards and the way they treat each other and the misunderstanding that remains, so heartbreaking...

personally, i think this is one of the better novel adaptations out there. i'm not mad about the changes from…
Good for you. I'm very disappointed, and it's not even about the changes themselves... But they cut so many things to focus only on the romance, big scenes that are just dialogue between HY and her army companions, or even between her and other supporting characters that deepen the understanding of the ML. Overall, although I think the acting is very good, their personalities are much more shallow. While the novel is marvelous and shows great character development, especially with the revenge plot, the series is almost solely focused on romance, and many scenes have been altered to feature only her and the ML.

He helped her a lot, but died in the process. They never see each other again. It's very sad.

yeah, he doesn't look evil enough. He's much better with nice, comical characters.
Oh, I think he looks evil, wich is sad, Bai Shu is always so funny and/or sweet. :/
