I wouldn't say the propaganda is very little personally. Theres no out right propaganda from the characters mouth…
Seriously. I get what you're saying. but I also know that a majority of C Dramas are heavily censored and the Censorship board even writes out certain scenes or dialogues in a way that benefits their propaganda. So I can't delude myself into thinking that the diluted approach this drama has taken doesn't benefit China's propaganda in any way.
To end things I'd still like to say that I really love this drama so far. Just because I recognise a very much existing political aspect of Cdramas doesnt mean I hate them. For instance I love the drama You are my Glory but I also know and recognise that it too served a as propaganda tool for China.

I do understand that for the sake of the drama, they can't involve all those things. I'm not saying they should. I actually really like this drama. But this is how I look at it. That's what propaganda is, painting a different picture. And this drama paints a very light hearted picture of that period. I'm not trying to be political at all. I can like a drama while recognising that it does a bad job of portraying the true harsh realities of that period of time. Again I repeat it doesn't have to do so either...This is my opinion. The OP didn't ask for a single person's opinion did they? Its valid for me to share my thoughts.
how is this drama so far - is there a lot of propaganda?
I wouldn't say the propaganda is very little personally. Theres no out right propaganda from the characters mouth about how great china is but it shows China's cultural Revolution through very Rose tinted Glasses. Yes it does kind of show us how difficult life must have been for people in the 70s..but so far it seems to gloss over the massacres, the killing, the destruction of property that occured during this period. Death toll during the Cultural Revolution was according to Wikipedia was: Hundreds of thousands to millions of civilians, Red Guard and military deaths (exact number not known.
Where's everyone watching today's episode. I don't have WeTv or a Tencent subscription. I was watching on Kissasian/ Myasiantv but they still haven't uploaded today's episodes
I was right, FL is gold that makes me feel ML not so qualified to have her, if ML is best she is 2 degrees above…
I wanna see XCS really grovel. I hope he realises and sees how great Xiao Mei is and regrets not realising that she was the one in library and no HHL. I Think it will not be cheating...hopefully. I think HHL will leave XCS because he can't provide her with everything she wants.
Okay but who's the FL Xiao mei or Hongling. Coz for some reason I find Holing annoying(she gives pick me energy) But I'm so confused coz I'm in episode 3 and more screen time has been given to Hongling who's a support role as far as I can tell. We've barely seen Xiao Mei in 3 episodes.
Wow is a slow burn I already dislike bu HHL but the story is engaging and the acting is good.....I even subscribed…
Ohhhh I dislike HHL too, just finished the first episode and I was like this girls such a pick me. if this show can make me like her, that would be the surprise of my life.
But I didn't talk about the actress change here. In what part of my comment did you see me talking about this??…
@Rain Where did anyone say YOU talked about any actress change?? Where where? I made a comment, my own comment, I did not reply to anyone, about how people (PEOPLE in the comments Below) are angry coz Naksu/Buyeon is not Mudeok and how they were saying Jang Uk is a playboy, and you replied to me. And I replied to @Mamah on this thread that I had no issues with anyone saying the plot, and the writing had problems…because it did, I didn’t say anything to you. I never said anything about u not liking the actress change. U said it felt like Jang Uk loved another woman coz he didn’t know that Buyeon is Naksu/Mudeok…all I said is, it’s okay even if he thinks it’s another woman, coz it’s been three years and he’s allowed to fall in love again (even if it is someone new). Just that the beautiful thing is that out of all the people he could have loved he fell for the same person again without even knowing! Aka they are fated .
The main leads really made this show. Their chemistry was great. The ending however did not make sense.
My thought is: So all of it was fake. Or at least parts of it, like the body switch was just part of her novel. So how do we as a viewer know what was real and what was fake? So what led to the real couple's problems that caused them to break up and get together? It was like they threw in a twist for fun in the end.

Spoil for me will ya? I'm still on ep4. is Xiao Mei going to get more screen time soon? I know more about Hong Ling then Xiao Mei which is annoying
