Its been VERY VERY VERY VERY hard not to compare this series to the novel when it comes to these two... I can see how certain parts seems to be missing or that there is a disconnect on why Vegas suddenly was concerned for Pete out of no where.

hm.. I think I felt that way towards the FL in Survivor.. not sure why thats all I can vividly recall from what I hated in it. Was it the assistant? I think they made her somewhat incompetent without him? Or was it the love interest? I was fine with everything else but the women + how they portrayed Lin Tao to be some big ol idiot who wanted to get the upper-hand. Ke was my favorite character in that one.
I 100% agree on the romance part. none of them needed any romance.. in fact I wish none had any.

In my opinion:
Medical Examiner Dr. Qin (2016): the first one is the best one hands down Medical Examiner Dr. Qin: Silent Evidence (2021) was 2nd best to me Medical Examiner Dr. Qin: The Survivor (2018) - Something about the FLs made me rate it lower. Perhaps they were too annoying or was it the assistant? I think they made her somewhat incompetent without him? that + I hated how Lin Tao was represented.
To my knowledge the 2nd one (Medical Examiner Dr. Qin 2: The Scavenger (2018) hasnt been subbed along with the other movie adaptations :(
