Title Youth of May Spoiler
As horribly sad as it was, that was honestly one of the best sad endings I've seen in a Kdrama and maybe the best "closure"-type epilogue I've seen. I feel like a lot of endings where the lead finds closure in the end tend to feel forced, but this one made sense and I really felt that sense of closure along with Hee Tae. I'm really glad that he got to see the tragic events in a new light so he could move on with his life. But even before that, I’m glad it showed that he was still living his life all those years after constantly saying he would have nothing without Myeong Hee; I was really ready for him to be a broken person like the homeless guy from the flash forwards, but I think it showed that Hee Tae’s outlook really changed because of Myeong Hee, even if she isn’t still there with him, so it was perfectly fitting. I didn't cry when Myeong Hee died because I knew it was going to happen, but that epilogue got me good.

I'm also glad Hee Tae's dad didn't get a redemption; I was half-expecting it and that would've been too cliche. And as infuriating as the cause for her death was, I felt that it was fitting that Myeong Hee died for her family instead of while saving Hee Tae (would have also been really cliche). Honestly an amazing ending, and there are a lot of things about the ending that were unexpected despite Myeong Hee’s death being predictable (but also fitting). For me, most dramas fail to stick the landing, but this ending exceeded all my expectations, and I couldn’t have asked for much more.

The only unsatisfactory thing about it was how illogically intact that vow letter was after 41 years. Like all the writing was perfectly intact and legible. I'm trying not to think about it too hard though.

Does anyone have the translation for the radio report at the end of ep 8? Viki subs weren't working for me. I do get the vague idea of what's going on, but I feel like I'm missing pretty important details here.
