I think we're suppose to just accept that they do off screen because they are way less eps that's only 1hr long. So they use up the time on Haejun because they need to emphasize that he sees him a his son even tho none of his biological parents are there.

She never blamed him for the accident, she blames him for the death of his sister. Also she wanted him, she just grew to hate him as his sister died in his care.
