I mean it’s kinda logical that they’d at least have platonic relationships with others. They never felt whole in those and we as an audience know they would always come back to each other. And it’s obviously not ideal that there’s ‘others’ but then again it’s not a perfect world with perfect people and they’re truly all for each other and it shows so I feel like that in itself just demonstrates the milestones they had to face to finally be together and stay that way

EXACTLY like I keep seeing people say that “ she’s so mean” “ why did she tell him she doesn’t love him” she’s too cold and ruthless” like let’s take a second and remember what genre were watching . This isn’t some fluffy romance, it has a very specific plot fml who is out to get revenge and seek her ultimate success while remaining with the advantage. What desire could she have for love if all she’s ever seen is death and destruction. If she can’t even ensure the lives of her loved ones, what value does love hold for her. Also, the idea of her being in love with someone after mere months of knowing them is just absurd. She also didn’t even know of this man’s schemes or his intentions at this point. Like stop watching this genre if you’re not gonna wait and see how it plays out.

Tysm!! Okay, so basically in the novel they reunite in uni 1 year later but in the drama they’re gonna reunite once they come back together as adults in Zhazhating. Do you think there’s any specific reasoning behind this change? It’s kinda sad 🥲

Yes!! I was referring to them going to different universities but even if they WOULD HAVE maintained their contact/relationship it probably wouldn't have worked out b/c of the distance and their respective struggles. I'm glad they reconnect after they have made a life and living for themselves since that provides them a lot of freedom and definitely the ability to appreciate their lives together as adults!

She goes back as a senior after 1 year of being absent junior year due to taking care of her mom and at the start of her senior year back home she left due to her dads problem. He dropped out almost 2 years ago, around the start/middle of his senior year due to his grandma's condition and financial problems. I'm pretty sure his friends (green & red) don't go to school or since they were on summer break they haven't been seen at school yet

That's good!! At least it's not some third act breakup. I'm glad they get to grow and become adults and that their adult life is spent together where they're more stable and able to make decisions independently. Since even if they did have something going in uni the whole long distance/different lifestyle wouldn't have really favored them. It's good that they have that transition and able to just be together. Hopefully, there's no big drama and it's just kind of a falling apart b/c of the diff uni's and family problems/difficulties since that would def speed up their relationships once they reunite

In the drama: She was around 15-16 when they first met but now that they’re married she’s 19ish b/c she had the 3 year mourning period and basically 1 year from the time her and Yanyun started interacting ( so like 4 years later) I’m guessing Yanyun is late 20s tbh b/c he got married young too and (probs 18ish)his wife passed so he’s been mourning for a while ( also life expectancy was around 40-50 years in Ming Dynasty so for him to be called “young” for his position I don’t think he would necessarily be in his mid to late thirties)

Def bad b/c the ml had a whole scene where he realized his masters plan, and you see him being very upset and basically plotting to pretend to be on their side, but actually being neutral so he can eventually make a plan to save himself and not side with his master
