this show was soooo funny! i didn't expect it to be this funny but So Ji Sub had me laughing so much. the main female wasn't typical in my view. i thought she would be that shut in who was shy who needed a guy to make her feel worthy. i was very happily surprised that that wasn't the plot. i was very impressed with their relationship. I've never seen a show where their relationship was so unpredictable because physical touch wasn't a possible gauge for the progression. It was very nice having to try to see other queues on how they were progressing.
I'm really disappointed with PHJ accepting this offer. I was hoping his drama would have been with a 'romance'.…
That's probably why he took it. He hasn't done a heavy action show before. He probably doesn't want to be type cast as a romance drama actor only. Since hes also doing cheese in the trap movie, he probably wanted variety in his new projects.
I read that Park Hae Jin likes Burn Notice so i have a feeling he will bring some Michael Westen vibes to his character. I'm looking forward to another action show!
this idea is unique for a kdrama but it has been done a lot in the west but not solely based around kdrama which i thought was cool. its cute i woiuld recommend it!
I'm glad someone else watched Playful Kiss and thought it was ridiculous. Everyone else keeps saying how romantic…
I really liked Playful Kiss and I understand that he was a super jerk to her beforehand but I feel like it worked in their situation. She was equally dysfunctional in the way of her stalking him pestering him. I feel like even though their relationship is clearly dysfunctional, they both know these things about each other and accept them anyway at the end of the day. He even acknowledges that he likes all her crazy when he asked for permission to marry her and she has always known he was a jerk and is constantly complaining about it to her friends and to him at times. If you watch the 11 ep YouTube special you’ll see how they complement each other in kdrama fashion and its sweet overall. What I have an issue with is when these behaviors are not really used as part of the plot. Their dysfunctional personalities were always a plot point but in other shows the rude aggressiveness is just there for no reason. The times Seung-Jo grabbed her arm and pulled her away was for justifiable plot reasons. Both times tying into each other with the use of the same phone. The first time used it to blackmail him into tutoring her and he pushes her against a tree to keep her from showing the photo which made it look like they were kissing and the second time she showed it when he was being super mean to her and she got pay back and he pulled her away by her arm and then they did actually kiss. Idk if it’s that I appreciate the retelling of an “almost” situation turning into reality or that the foreshadowing played out well but I feel like each time he was a jerk to her or she was obsessive, it triggered something in the plot to occur. Maybe I am giving the writers to much create.
The real question is how common is this in Korean in real life?
I'm half thai and have two full thai sister born in thailand. One of them has 2 birthdays. One is thai and the other is american. Her American birthday is her true birthday and the thai one is when her birth was registered. My mom told me the reason her thai birthday is not her actual birthday is because the hospital's there used to or maybe still do prioritize males first so they didn't care when girls were born and took time registering them but immediately registered the male births.my sister was born in the 70s in Thailand so idk how it's progressed since
I really liked playful kiss even though he was a jerk, they atleast showed progressor of his feelings towards her with him discussimg her with Hera from time to time. I feel like they were both equally messed up which made the work. She was a stalker and he was an ass. His mom really disturbed me. She was way to interested in them. The show i had to drop do to how aggressive and abusive one of the love interest was is Boys over Flowers. Jun Pyo was just so vile. He was pretty much leader of a cult and insighted mass assaults. The Female MC nearly got raped because of him. He forces his will and never takes responsibility for his actions that caused so kuch psychological problems and a near suicide. He was so horrible that i couldn't finish the seriers. His friends were no better since they just sat back and watched Jihu tried a little to help but only for her. Ironically sweet Jihu is the ass lead in Playful Kiss lol
There was a disturbing seen in To the Beautiful You where the MC female gets kid napped by a very and in all likeliness murdering her. The MC male comes to the rescue and the attacker runs off. What is most disturbing is that the attacker isn't a stranger. He works at the inn of the MCs family. The MCs never tell anyone and the assault was used to show how thr male MC realizes how he feels about the female MC. No justice. Now expression of how the female feels about nearly getting killed.
Any recommendations for a similar romance plot to this? I'm looking for a show where the MC doesn't know the love interest is famous. I loved that she moved to Korea and didn't know who he was. Either one where the famous person is keeping it secret on purpose or the MC just happens to not know who they were prior to meeting them. There's are a lot of movies and stuff in the west like this but I can't find any Asian dramas like that aside from this one
I dropped this at ep 4 ...I really want to see some of the supporting actors like Yang Ik Jun & Uhm Tae Goo but…
after the 4th ep is when the adult cast starts. i would recommend you watch it again. the fight scenes are fantastic IMO and Kim Hyun Joong does a phenomenal job! I was so impressed considering he was a musician turn actor i only romcoms up til then. He was great even if he was only ever an actor. his character is very stoic but does a great job showing emotion when the situation calls for it especially for the people he cares about.
I am only 3 eps in and i have to say that aside from the cheesy music I'm really liking this so far. All the other kdramas I've seen has been romcoms but i am a bit of a boy at heart and love all the fighting scenes. The firsr fight had me hooked. Hottie Kim Hyun Joong kicking ass waa awesome to see. The young him is a bad ass as well and defo easy on the eysa. The acting is really good so far as well.
