Even though I've talked my fair share of shit about this drama, I still rated it a 9/10 as only rate shows based…
emphasis on dialogue, yes! there are instances where the show 'tells' you so much without actually telling the viewer. And I think it shines especially in the case of ML, who talks in a very cryptic manner. it's a part of his personality, and one of his main draws that makes him such an interesting character to dissect

After the 1m relationship arc here’s my interpretation(im open to hear yall view as well) .Ho:I don’t think…
loved reading this. finally a reasonable take on both Ho and Mido's characters, and i think i mostly agree, especially the part about Ho not looking for a relationship initially, but the developments afterwards definitely had an impact on him (in his own words, he's grown to like himself more because of Sua, which is tremendous improvement for someone who has spent a huge chunk of his life resenting himself). i appreciate the way they built the bond between Sua and Ho, these two genuinely care for each other, and that will remain, even if they may not be the romantic endgame (i really want them to be, though).

>> "Tae sung is unstable himself. But Ho was providing those foundational elements perfectly. I think the more time she spends with another man, the more she will realize how much Ho actually meant to her on a deeper, mental aspect."

spot on about Mido here. i wonder what kind of ending they have planned for her.

not saying Namgung isn't without faults of his own, but the hate towards him is so funny because a lot of these 'opinions' just boil down to—

Namgung: returns to Mido despite the cheating, after finding out about her almost attempt bc she was clearly in no state to be left alone
Everyone: he's spineless and a simp

Namgung: shows hints that he might be developing feelings for Sua (after having been cheated on and then being talked into this one month arrangement btw, which both him and Mido agreed on. not to mention, Sua actually treats him with respect while Mido keeps doing anything but that)
Everyone: omg how dare he, he's been emotionally cheating from the start

like. which one is it. there's no winning with these people.

Ah, and of course, the claim that he is a 'master manipulator'... did we even watch the same drama omfg. if Mido is allowed understanding for her actions (which includes the cheating, mind you. cheating is never a mistake.), then Namgung ought to be allowed the same grace when it comes to his shortcomings. it's true that nobody asked him to devote his life to Mido, or her family, but that entirely ignores the context of the roots of their relationship; he quite literally stands in a position where he is forever indebted to Mido and her family, and wouldn't even be alive if it wasn't for them. it's clear that it weighs heavily on him, and to ignore that is rather.. hypocritical. by this logic, even the things that Mido does for Namgung: for instance, giving his mother money while keeping him in the dark (which we're shown later that Namgung was perfectly capable of dealing with himself): are not things he asked her to do. in fact, he was against it.

if those acts of hers can be seen as noble, why should Namgung's sacrifices for her- which she let happen, even if they increased her guilt- be villainised? they both made sacrifices the other never asked for. for Mido it led to her feeling suffocated, and for Namgung it led to him feeling pitied, something that he himself says makes him feel like he's "seven years old again" — a time in his life that was marked by abuse and abandonment. he's clearly dealing with a lot of unresolved trauma and survivor's guilt from childhood, and to ignore all that and reduce his character to a single dimension is simply dismissive and fails to see what's at play at a much deeper level here.

People who defend Mido either have low media literacy or feel a sense of familiarity with her misery and emotional…
this. a lot of the 'discussion' around this drama is just moral policing and it's so tiring, honestly. and it feels like such a shame because contrary to popular opinion, the characters here ARE well written, it's just that they are unlikeable and their flaws actually end up costing them in the long run

i.. genuinely don't get the expectation for Ho to remain 'loyal' even after Mido cheated, like?😭 that marked the final crack in their relationship, and the drama made it clear that his emotions towards her began changing after that point, and understandably so..

man.. as likely as it seems, i'm really hoping they don't go the conventional route of having the leads reunite in the end. not that i'm not prepared for the disappointment lol

Title A Love Other than Yours Spoiler
“namgung and sua act all innocent” BECAUSE THEY’VE DONE NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED OF????? Sua wasn’t the one who kissed a half-intoxicated Namgung,. Namgung wasn’t the one who confessed to liking another person right in front of his partner of 10 years. What are these people even on about.

When Sua tried to cross a line, Namgung stopped it right that instant — compare this to Mido, who tried to excuse her actions after having already crossed that line, instead of apologising. Yes she was in a dark place, but that does not undo the damage it did to not only Namgung, but their relationship itself. And then, it’s Mido who forces them into an open relationship as a counterattack to Namgung’s ‘go see him’ offer. Even if Namgung is no saint for going along with it, it does not begin to compare to Mido, who only suggested it to appease her own guilt of cheating. And at this point, even if Namgung and Sua were to end up developing something beyond what we’ve been shown so far (which they won’t because this is a Kdrama, and they’d never show an ML who actually puts himself first for once lol), Mido has only herself to blame, and no one else. She’s the reason they’re in this situation in the first place.

MESSAGE TO THE FANS, WRITERS, CAST, AND PRODUCTION TEAM:I know some fans sympathise with Mi-do, and everyone has…
this comment right here! for mido's development arc to have impact, she needs to learn how to take accountability, or it all falls flat. for namgung, he needs to learn how to put himself first— if these two things don't happen by the end of this story, the writer will have failed their own characters

kinda crazy how, in some platforms, people empathise with Mido for her depression, but you don't see the same empathy extended to Ho, who is a victim of child abuse and suffers from survivor's guilt... the double standards make me laugh. Just because we don't see him express it, does not mean his emotional state isn't just as messed up— or even more. As of EP9, i just feel so sorry for him, because all this while it seemed like he still had people to rely on, but this episode made it clear that even if he did, his own hatred for himself never allowed him to truly lean on others. There was always guilt weighing his actions when it came to Mido and fam.

I just want him to be able to choose his own happiness by the end of this story, and be freed from all this guilt, regardless of whoever is endgame. Though, tbh, I don't want him to go back to Mido. He's been far too much hurt for that.

the blatant double standards. it's crazy

this right here! if the drama ends with the ML and FL reuniting, this show is going straight into the trashcan for me.

This comment right here. If Mido doesn't start taking accountability for her actions in the coming episodes, I'm going to end up hating her even more i'm afraid

Wishful prediction :After the dating period of one months , ML finally bids farewell to SFL and when he turns…
Oh, I love the idea of the ending you described. Sua taking up a significant spot in his life without even him realising it.. i love the thought of that. it's not likely to happen i know, but i want them to end up together so bad.

It’s not even that FL cheated for me it’s everything she’s done afterwards. Trying to evade it, always crying…
this! it's the actions afterwards and the way she's refusing to take accountability for her actions that pisses me off the most

The day K-dramas finally write a properly flawed male lead is the day these "realistic" slice-of-life…
oh, if the genders were reversed, namgung would have gotten HELL.

also i don't think he's holding up all that well either; he is just the kind of character who suppresses all his feelings, and i have a feeling the coming episodes will deconstruct that trope and actually have him break down for once. if they don't though, yeah, just another example of poor writing. i really hope we get to see him lash out, all this is too fucking unfair on him.
