I guess I was expecting this to be a coming of age tale, but the film actually became borderline disturbing towards the middle and end. The soundtrack did an excellent job at building suspense, so much so that I found myself dreading what Tam would discover next. But as I decided to watch it at 2 in the morning, the sudden shift towards horror took me off gaurd. I think I find the creepiness/eeriness of the film more unsetting than if it just had jump scares. For that reason I had to stop at the (SPOILER) scene where the boys find a dead dog beaten in Tam's room. *shudders* I don't think I'll be sleeping well tonight with that image in my head. :/
Awe, I liked to the beautiful you.. but I might be biased as it was my first drama and I feel nostalgic thinking about it... Actually, I think I know it sucks now, but I didn't have anything to compare it back then, so I still enjoyed it for what it was.
Reply 1988 was a gem and it will forever be one of my favorites. It helped me get through a difficult time in my life and I will always look warmly on the characters, story, and morals it portrayed. <3
I really enjoyed this movie. It was a slower paced tale about two teenagers who were kind of loners... and though it seemed a simple enough plot on the surface, I feel like there were layers of meaning that I'll need to watch the movie again to fully pick up on. Above all else, it reminded me of my teenage years. I was always quiet and alone and the boy main character reminded me sadly of myself. I loved the friendship the two main characters formed, though I wished for a happier ending. I'll just make up a future for these two where they meet again one day. I love Yamazaki Kento's acting. He is one of the few Japanese actors I feel doesn't over-act. Great movie in my opinion. Watch if you're looking for a realistic representation of the turmoils that come with your youthful years. <3
So impressed with Joon Yeol in this role! He is so talented! The female character can be a little annoying, but the story is so good I can overlook that small flaw.
If you're a huge fan of the lead actors then yeah, watch this film because it wasn't awful. But truthfully, it was a bit slow and predictable. Nonetheless... Lee Seung Gi *drools*
Unfortunately I dropped this drama a few episodes in. The story just didn't hold my interest and the acting was sub-par. But I love Hyun Woo, so it's a shame I didn't fall in love with this one. T^T He is a very talented actor, just wish the rest of the cast matched his ability. Oh well.
Similar to the comment bellow... this movie brought me to tears which is strange because I'm not one to easily cry. There is one scene in particular that just got to me and I won't spoil anything... but it was just upsetting. Overall, great movie. I really enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone interested. It's really not too sad, but I think I was just emotional watching it. ^ ^
