We cannot really compare them to USSR. Even though they tend to call themselves "communist", it is not like how USSR was like. They always separated foreigners to locals, and by that way of managing, they keep control over what foreigners can have access to (especially meeting the locals). It is impossible for tourists in North Korea nowadays to meet the locals nor go by ourselves in places we are not meant to be. The way of using dollars is to maintain this order (you go to places that accept dollars and not the others).
But I can understand it's surprising, especially from the western point of view...

Sometimes even countries prefer foreigners to pay with their own currencies. China used to be like that, foreigners travelling around were just not able to get RMB. Some shops were for foreigners and others for the locals.

That's China... They don't have human rights... If that TV show took place in Taiwan, nothing like that would have happened... RIP.

Saw the movie two days ago in Taipei and it's just an amazing movie!

They give korean actors and actresses the script in korean when they don't speak chinese (it's easier to memorize) but after all it'll be subbed

actually it'll be like skip beat, the trailers weren't dubbed but in the end they have to as China is a big country and many people are still illiterate

there's actually a first episode out even though it's an episode "zero"

Not sure I think they write the rest of the drama taking attention to the Korean public reactions... I always fall for the 2nd lead because the couple seems much more natural basically... But some others don't feel the same way ;;

Me too ! So addicted, i even talk about it with my taiwanese friends haha The rest seems boring to me XD !

Lately I finished lot of dramas. BUT I STARTED A TAIWANESE ONE CALLED IN A GOOD WAY AND IM SOOO OBSESSED ABOUT IT I EVEN WATCHED 3 TIMES AN EPISODE IROPZAJCRA
Ok, so basically it's very good.
I had an obsession about WooBin not long ago. But too bad, I already saw him in most of his dramas.
I think Potato 2013QR3 is the most funny sitcom i ever saw XD It's even better than recent short dramas who are boring and not interesting.
How come you became so obsessed over those two ? XD
