It all relies on the symptoms and outcome each humans had. For special infectees, they had either strong desire to kill and conquer from the symptoms (negativity), hence being a monster; but there are some with control one's desire to finally upgrade, or to become one with desire (embrace negative for bad/good outcomes); hence special infectees with superpowers as upgrade
Meanwhile, for neohumans, is contradictory. While on the verge on asymptomatic phase, their desire is way opposite: to either protect the loved ones and peace (positivity); hence becoming one
She's evolving into adult fast-pace (immortal special monster), as you can see from the last episode (the lady in white dress, long hair), alongside her dear friend (either back to human or upgrade into neohuman)
