Yeah I agree you definitely don’t need to read the novel to watch the show. But Gu Man’s script for the drama is following the novel really closely so it’s not surprising. I do love our main couple on screen together though 😄

Because she’s not really in the novel at this point either. And they’re showing his struggle which explains why he tuned her down. The drama is very well written and follows the novel’s progress closely.
