But the writer will have hard time to keep us interested in just them for the rest of the series, since they literally introduced them as a couple in the 1st ep. I'm sure the people who have read the novel have answers but it's the first series, where I don't click on the spoiler comments as I hate book spoilers and I'm sure there are a few below in the older comments.

Same! For now, I consider Charlie as Babe's entourage, no love whatsoever, at least for now. I think ep.3 preview got people confused. Also, I don't trust Babe either, he's being portrayed as this gorgeous, naive car racer and I think his agenda is even longer than Charlie's.
