I fail to understand what makes so many people find this drama so good. It's a pretty mediocre romcom with nothing…
It was also changed from a CSGO esports drama to "patriotic hacking to promote cybersecurity job development" nonsense sort of at the last minute. If you judge it based on that, it's sure the weakest gaming drama I've seen.
"China will go to Mars!" is kind of mandatory in any show at least of this genre. You probably can't release a show without a lengthy segment dedicated to CN reaching newfound heights.
For example, after their breakup, do they get together so easily like that?
All the breakups are imaginary! The characters agree to retcon them away so much that, in the end, they just declare that they have been together since their first proper meeting seven and a half minutes into Episode 1.
(So yes, there is some sort of pointless breakup stuff, it just doesn't have much overall significance.)
"CTF cyber-security esports world" in the description, uh, CTFs and esports together in one sentence? Idk how…
You can pretend they play CSGO (there is some Counter-Strike content left in the show, but it's not very much considering how long this thing is). Everyone Loves Me has much more CS.
While GYR has a graphically unpleasant MOBA (surely programmed for the show!), the arena scenes and player cams…
In GGS, they have an over-engineered and under-used CSGO set. I really wish they had used it more and used it better. It's great to see it, but at the same time sad how much potential they wasted there.
In a late episode they also play CSGO music for a moment, as another nod.
I dropped gank into your heart? Because the game is WHAT THE HELL? So as this one too. For a game theme this one…
While GYR has a graphically unpleasant MOBA (surely programmed for the show!), the arena scenes and player cams at least have some effort put into them, and it's played on computers. YAMG and FIYS are better dramas, but they use some murky phone games, including phones mounts for the actual competition that are as offputting as the poor animations in GYR's game.
If you watch GGS, you can sometimes notice it is actually about CSGO just like FIYS is actually about League. (In terms of what made it to the drama itself, Everyone Loves Me by the directors of GGS and GGS2 is much more of a CSGO show.)
Of all dramas I watched, this might have the most (really amateurish?) dubbing transitions between audio takes recorded in clearly different environments. Then again, it's still better than being replaced by an entirely different (Standard Mandarin) actor?
I'm not seeing https://kisskh.at/702917-really-miss-you on your list (= Mo Bao Fei Bao: https://kisskh.at/people/18856-mo-bao-fei-bao…
Ah, it's *all* romance. I was giving you those recommendations because of Snowstorm & Squid. So if you are not in the mood for that now, definitely don't binge it at the moment.
Watching it as a gaming/esports/competition drama is a piss-poor idea as well.
If you judge it based on that, it's sure the weakest gaming drama I've seen.

Spoiler command below expands on GGS.

I didn't watch https://kisskh.at/37243-a-murderous-affair-in-horizon-tower yet and https://kisskh.at/697563-kai-duan is not quite dark and not romance-free, but at least they sound like they'd better fit your current interest.
