I think you need to be in the mood for a drama like this. It has the exact same vibes of My Mister. I remember…
I think it's perfectly fine not to like a show and no single show appeals to everyone. But if something is not your cup of tea, it's best to drop and move on.
At first I was worried it wouldn't live up to my expectations. I felt so much dead air and stuffiness in the first episode. However, I soon realized this was intentional and that the director was setting the stage for the story to unfold. By the end of the second episode I was totally hooked. If the show keeps it up I can see it becoming one of my all-time favorites.
First Episode Thoughts: Promising so far, I'm intrigued for sure. The acting was great all throughout. I really like Lee El's character and the two neighborhood friends (the two teachers). Kim Ji Won is so beautiful. It's amazing how much she has matured as an actress.
For a drama that I enjoyed so much, I was hoping for a stronger, more satisfying ending. Like many others, I didn't mind them breaking up and going their separate ways as their reasons were valid and I understood what the writer was trying to convey, but I was somewhat let down by the execution. I felt like the show had some pacing issues and started to lose steam in the last 6 episodes. I didn't hate the last episode but it felt a little bit rushed. I've also seen a number of dramas with sad/bittersweet endings that felt more complete like Reply 1988, Queen for Seven Days, Gaksital, and two previous dramas of the leads, Mr. Sunshine and The Light in Your Eyes. Still, the first 10 episodes will hold a special place in my heart and were among the best I've ever seen.
I'm curious why you think that My Mister's ending implies that introversion is bad or that the characters changed…
I agree that she didn't seem like a completely different person in the end. Rather, she learned to forgive herself, come to terms with her past, and trust others.
