Kinda expected it that Ji Yong will be SML here and fall in love with FL eventually. However, I wish they had done it sooner before Dou Zhao got even married, now they are showing signs of him being jealous and overly protective towards Dou Zhao, hindering her at some point, this is kind of an unnecessary arc for me. I rather they had maintained the good friendship they had like how they depicted his bond with her in earlier episodes, so annoyed with how his character turned out as a 'jealous SML' in this episode. Initially loved his character when they were just platonic friends and kept to the consistency of him being unable to feel emotions. This part made me disappointed a little, thought it was too sudden that he could feel emotions of love.

this type of style has always been what gjm is known for, he is the only director who does this, understandable if you aren't used to it or it is not to your liking...he has always added slow effects on his fight scenes to give emphasis on movements and details that gets overlooked in fast/normal pace, same goes for the focus in the eyes, it's to highlight characters emotions more

If you like dramas that focuses more on romance then you will like this. The destined/fated lovers trope is well executed here and leads have a wonderful chemistry. There are kisses in this and many more other intimate scenes to come.

GJM is the only one who has this type of dark artistic directing style, you won't find it in any other directors.

I absolutely love how Dou Zhao's character is written. She's such a clever female character. I loved how she handled the whole situation using her wits and intelligence alone, it was such an amazing scene and I admire the little insertion of sweetness with the hand canon. These scenes in episode 23 truly outshined for me a solid 10/10.

What standouts for me the most about this drama is the destined/fated lovers trope being done so satisfyingly well. The development of feelings between DZ and SM were consistently gradual, each encounter and events aiding to the deepening of their love. It is not too slow or rushed, rather the director & writer allowed the main leads romantic love to develop in a natural pace. Their romantic moments despite some being of common used tropes, what makes it exemplary is the addition of small intricate touches of details making such scenes memorable and convincingly heart fluttering rather than flat and cliche. The execution is definitely similar to a fairytale. The cinematic visuality of the shots per scene adds a magnifying intensity making it overall: beautiful. Chemistry is sizzling cherry on top.

Wei Tingyu is so annoying. He didn't deserve Dou Ming at all. Her mother isn't any better. Ugh hate them so much 😭

I hope they wrap up the Dou Ming and Wei Tingyu issue by this upcoming episode. Their storyline don't interest me that much. I need the focus back on our main leads just like it did at earlier episodes.

Planning to rewatch this drama on new years eve so I can have a warm & gloomy 2025 😂 this is the best cdrama of 2024 for me!

this is not heavily focused on politics compared to other historical dramas, it's more on romance side so you might end up enjoying it

In cdrama having grey/silver hair doesn't always indicate poisioning. It's more of an indication towards a characters depleting/weak health condition (close to death) or the lost of someone they really love. Small part of Song Mo hair turned grey again after being badly beaten up by his father, he barely could've walked shows he was in critical state hence the reappearance of grey hair.
