Yes Shi an doesn't die in the past timeline because it was changed but in their timeline the original main one he is still dead and only their misunderstanding is gone.

It's okay you don't have to explain because I clearly understood the ending. It's just that it didn't satisfy me. Well, the writer could have tweaked things up and that's exactly my problem, the writer could have opted to "change" rather than just having Hua Ruyue change a few things most likely just the misunderstanding that led to their feud, in the end it felt lacking to me, because you went through all that, got a chance to change her past but she got short end of the stick bcoz it still leads to same ending, so yeah the misunderstanding between them was gone that is good but after that you as a viewer you're just like "wait that;s it??" 😂 because even if the misunderstanding between them is cleared up and all that, they still have the same ending their child shian still dies 😭 the message wasn't too meaningful imo..." you change things to only lessen the damage but the ending is still the same" ...it should've been "you change things for the better" and yeah they went through so much hardship they deserved so much better.
I keep wishing that if we ever got a special episode, it wouldn’t be a wedding — just Hua Ruyue and Bai Jiusi choosing a quiet life in the mortal world with Shi An, as a happy family. That’s my biggest what if. It still breaks my heart that present Bai Jiusi never got to share time or meet the real Shi An.
